"Listen, Grayson!" His mother ordered, and he recognised something in her tone. A distant part of him acknowledged the authority ringing in her voice. "There are some things you don't know about this Ritual. You plan on killing Killian after he drinks your blood, right? Well, you won't be able to. He will be incapacitated, but so will you. That's how the transfiguration part of the Ritual works. During the time the changes are occurring, you won't be able to fight. Killian's counting on the fact that you don't know that particular tidbit of information."
He stared at her, feeling his stomach plummet. Who was supposed to kill Killian if he could not? "Are you implying that you will kill him instead?"
