AN HOUR LATER, Alison had drifted into a dreamless sleep. She felt peaceful and entirely at ease, with the newfound fulfilment of completing the bond with her Mate. Her wolf, for once, was completely satiated. She allowed her body to rest as she welcomed unconsciousness.
Sometime in the night, she vaguely registered Grayson stirring and making to leave the bed. Then, almost without meaning to, she reached out and grabbed his hand.
"Where are you going?" She mumbled groggily, barely coherent.
She felt him lean forward, his warm breath stirring the hair next to her ear. "Gabriel is trying to contact me. I'll be back soon."
Alison did not attempt to stay awake, knowing he'd return to bed soon. Instead, with the newfound spark of determination that there would be answers soon, she drifted back into the best sleep of her lift.
Somewhere throughout the night, she felt...cold.
