Chapter 1 - Crazy dare

April's POV

Some nights are meant to be crazy and this is one of those nights. I jump and sway my hips as I dance on the deafening music. My friends pull me out of the dance floor and we move towards the bar again. I catch my breath and watch my friends talking non-sense. My face burning from sweat and my throat from alcohol.

"Alright, April!" Zack says to me, "Let's add some more fun to the night shall we?" he raises an eyebrow at me.

"Of course I am totally ready!" I stumble as I sit on the bar stool.

"Okay then, I dare you to kiss the next man who walks out of that door!" he challenges me.

"Alright! I can do it!" I gulp down the tequila.

"That is so ridiculous I love it!" Amy laughs.

"Yep!" I giggle. I gulp down two more shorts of tequila. The door opens and I pace towards it. I position myself in front of the door as a tall, handsome boy enter in. I approach him and he looks at me.

"Hi?" he confusingly says. I pace closer to him and then connect my lips with his. He doesn't kiss me back, which was pretty obvious but I take the opportunity to fully savor the stranger's lips. When I pull away he stares down at me with widened eyes. I smirk at him and walk away.

"How daring was that?!" I yell over the music and everyone claps for me. "Thank you, thank you!"

I still feel is lips on mine. Those were good lips, I giggle to myself. I look back at the door hoping to find the guy there but he was gone. We go back to the dance floor jumping up and down in no rhythm. Later that night someone carried me home, maybe Zack or Amy.

I wake up to a really bad headache. I throw myself into the bathroom and then go to the breakfast table. My mom and dad both took off to their office and now I am alone. Well, as usual. They are never really around. Underneath my plate my mom left a note stating that dad's office party is at eight and I have to go. No!! I really don't want to!!

I spend the rest of the day chilling out and sending my essay to universities for post graduation.

Finally, my parents return home in the evening around 7:30 arguing over something. I quickly leave everything and go in the living room.

"What's going on?" I ask them. They smile as soon as they see me.

"Oh nothing at all sweetie!" my mom says, "Some business matter."

"Are you sure?" I look at her suspiciously.

"Yes, baby girl! Now, go get dressed, we need to leave!" my dad says.

"Okay! And please dad stop calling me baby girl!" I groan while he laughs. I go inside my room to get dressed. I open my closet and look through the dresses. Well... Dad's office parties mainly consist of bitches showing off their father's money. So, I have to wear something good too, to maintain my dad's reputation. I get dressed into a silver gown and gray heels. I decide to leave my hair open.

When I get out of my room, my parents are already waiting in the living room, discussing something. There is something going on between them. We drive to the place where the party was. The hall was packed with people. There's no one I know.

"April, honey come over here!" my mom calls out to me. Oh no! Why can't my mother leave me alone and let me enjoy the party in a quite corner. I see people dancing intimately with their boyfriends and girlfriends, making me jealous. I wish I had someone I could share this party with. I sigh and walk towards my mother.

"Anna, this is my daughter, April Grey!" she introduced me to a woman as old as she was. Yeah, I think I have seen her. Robin is my dad's good friend and a business competitor. Mostly a competitor.

"Really pleased to meet you April. Come, let me introduce to my kids." she drags me into the crowd. I look back to my mom and she gives me a "Behave nicely" look.

"April, this is my daughter Venessa Walsh and this is my son Nathan Walsh!" she introduces me to her children. I smile and shake hands with her daughter then I turn to see her son and I choke. Holy mother of God!!

"You?" Nathan and I both say at the same time.

"Oh, you two know each other? How lovely is that! Venessa come on let your brother enjoy with his friend." Anna says and before I know it she and Venessa take off.

"Wh- No-Mom..." Nathan stutters while I stand still as a rock. Nathan's emerald green eyes meet mine and I come back to life.

"Hi," he says.

"Uh- Hi!" I say back. There is long awkward silence after that.

"Uh-" I begin, "I'm really sorry about last night! I was too drunk and my friend dared me to kiss the next guy that walked in the club." I say in a low voice.

"Oh, that's really okay. I figured it out." he smiles at me. Wow! That wasn't so bad. I apologized, he accepted and now I can go.

"Nathan! April!" my dad called for us, "Over here!!"

Both of us moved towards the table where both our families were sitting.

"So, I heard you are handling your dad's business, young man." my dad asks Nathan as he sits. There is only one place left at the table, so I had to sit besides Nathan.

"Yes, sir." he answers, "I joined the bussiness after completing my graduation. Still learning."

"That's amazing!" my mom says.

"What are you doing, April?" Robin asks me.

"Uh, I have also completed my graduation and now I'm thinking of post graduation. But I am not sure about it yet." I reply.

"Well, that's pretty cool." Venessa chirps, "Any particular university you would like to go in?"

"No. Even if I get into a school, I haven't decided whether I'll go or not."

"Why? Don't you want to help your dad with the business?" Nathan asks me.

"I have no interest in that field. Nor am I deserving enough to handle the business. There are a number of employees in our company who know far more than me and are great leaders."

"That is exactly the kind of atitude a leader keeps!" Robin smiles at me. I nervously laugh and focus back on my drink.

I keep silent during the rest of the dinner while my parents and the Walsh discuss business. Agrhh, boring parties. After a while the soft music starts to play and I see couples dancing again.

"Nate, why don't you take the lovely lady to a dance?" Anna asks Nathan, but it sounded more of an order.

"What? No, I think we are better off this way." he says. And I mentally thank him.

"Oh yes, lovely idea!" my mom supports Anna, "April would be honored!" What?! No, I would not be honored!! I would be humiliated!! Dancing with the person I kissed without a reason, that's clearly a humiliation! But after all, both the families force us into a dance. Half halfheartedly both me and Nathan move to the dance floor. Nathan kept a hand on my waist and pulled me closer to him. I kept one hand on his shoulder and held his hand with the other.

"I'm sorry, my mom can be really persuasive sometimes." he says as we dance.

"Oh no, it's not her fault only. My mom is no less." I say back.

"So tell me something about you?" he says after a while, "It's better than this awkwardness."

"I think I already told you."

"Okayy.. So, do you have any boyfriends?" he says and spins me around.

"No," I say as I land back in his arms, "Do you have any boyfriends?" I chuckle. He gives me a weird look.

"Umm, sorry, sorry. I meant do you have any girlfriends?" I say and look down from the embarrassment.

"Yeah I do. Her name is Alyssa." he says. The song changes and perfect by Ed Sheeran starts playing. Oh, I wish I was dancing with my someone special right now, not a random guy whom I kissed less than 24 hours ago.

"Well, that's great! Do you like dancing?" I ask him.

"No, not really. Do you?"

"Yeah, kind of. But I must say, you are good at it."

"And I must say you are a good kisser!" he smirks in amusement.

"Oh," I say and look down. Freaking hell! Did I just blush?! Why does this body has to pump hormones at the wrong time?! "Uh, thanks!" Thanks? The hell did I say thanks for?

The music stops and we pull apart. Everyone claps and we go back to our parents.

After an hour more of the torture, my parents start to leave. We meet the Walshs and say our goodbyes. "It was nice meeting you!" Harry says as he shakes my hand.

"You too." I smile back. He's not that bad. With that thought I left the party.
