"Alright ladies, LINE UP!"
Aife stood in front of a line of fierce looking female warriors, known as the Rangers. They were an elite group of a 100 female warriors under the command of Aife. They all were wearing black shorts and sports bras, showing off their abs. "I'm going to change, and I want you guys to give me fifty laps while I'm gone. Starting, now!"
The Rangers immediately shot off and Aife quickly changed. Five minutes later, she exited, wearing a silver sports vest that read "Be a badass with a good ass" over her sports bra and shorts. "Alright, girls, time to sweat some more!" she said as she walked towards the Rangers. "But I don't wanna," a diamond-blonde-haired girl whined. "Why did you make me wake up so early? I just wanna go to sleep!" "Sylvia, you are a Ranger. Do not forget the oath you took along with your fellow sisters for protecting those who need protecting, and defeating those who are with evil intent." Aife scolded the girl now to be known as Sylvia. "I know, I know, but at least can I go back to bed?" Sylvia asked Aife. "After we train Via." Aife said in a gentle tone to Sylvia. "Rangers today we will be practicing hand-to-hand combat along with archery and to end we will be having a sparring session with the men in the legion." Aife told the group who cheered at the last activity for their training. The Rangers were by far the strongest group of warriors in Laurn. Even the best fighters in the army couldn't beat the Rangers. Aife's mother was the founder of the Rangers and when she passed away Aife was made the new commander of the group. At least 20 of the Rangers were new, the rest of them were from the command of her mother. All the new recruits looked up to Aife as their idol, and Aife looked up to the older Rangers as her role models.
Everyone began pairing up to start their training. Aife and Sylvia began to spar, Sylvia made the first move and went full speed and tried to tackle Aife but Aife sidestepped and stuck her foot out tripping Sylvia. "Owww! That hurts ya know!" Sylvia exclaimed while getting up. "Well it's your fault that you tackled me knowing full well that I would do that" Aife replied. Sylvia got up only to be hit by a roundhouse kick from Aife in the stomach, knocking the air out of Sylvia's lungs. Sylvia gasped for air as Aife suddenly jabbed, Sylvia landed in a thud on the floor. Aife walked towards Sylvia with an outstretched hand as Sylvia grabbed it and pulled Aife to the floor as they began to wrestle. After a good 5 minutes Aife held Sylvia in a choke hold, making Sylvia tap-out. "You cheated" Sylvia said pouting as she and Aife walked towards the archery ground. "You know very well that I didn't cheat. It was my win due to practice and skill." Aife said as they went to pick their bows and quivers with the rest of the Rangers.
Aife walked into the field with a bow that could only be described as perfection. The bow was a recurve bow, you it was black with delicate silver and gold designs. The recurve bow was perfectly balanced in Aife's hands and had sharp edges that could be used as a weapon if she ever ran out of arrows, which ever so rarely happened. Aife's quiver was also something to be amazed by. It was the same design as her bow but in the centre of quiver, it had a sun and crescent moon together symbolizing harmony and peace. Every Ranger had a necklace with a wolf within a moon pendant as the wolf was their sacred animal and the moon symbolized the first light in the dark night sky, representing how they brought justice to those who hid in the dark. These pendants were only given to those with the title of a Ranger. These pendants were used as a way of communication between the Rangers. Only Aife and her second in command, Sylvia, wore the pendant of the sun and moon, showing their high status within the Rangers. Aife's and Sylvia's pendants could also be used to communicate with the Rangers and always returned to them. The pendant could also create a shield to protect its wearer as it was imbued with powerful magic by Aife's mother and Father. Though only Aife and Sylvia's could create the shield.
Aife walked towards the farthest target, bow in hand, with Sylvia by her side and the Rangers trailing behind. "Ok girls how about we have a bet?" Asked Layla, one of the older Rangers. "Hmm... Sounds interesting, what are the stakes?" Sylvia asked intrigued "I may not be one for these kind of things but I'm willing to participate" Aife stated slowly. "Okay so let's say Aife and Sylvia versus the rest of the Rangers. Whoever wins in archery gets to choose the stakes" Layla said as the Rangers began to form their teams. "Sounds fair. Ok Fae what do you want the stakes to be?" Sylvia asked Aife, "Let's see... Oh! I know, losers need to flirt with the jackass of a saviour, Wyatt or... Take care of the wolves for a... Week. Which one do you think is better Via?" Aife asked turning toward Sylvia. "The wolves sound a lot more humane than making us flirt with that d-bag" Sylvia replied. Aife nodded "And the winners get to... Be the first ones to spar with the strongest fighter in the army after my brother." There were murmurs of agreement within the group. Everyone split into pairs to begin the competition. Layla was the first one to step on the field along with her partner, one of the younger Rangers. Taking position in front of their target that stood 20 meters away. Layla was the first to shoot, her arrow sailed through the air and missed the bull's-eye by an inch. Her partner though missed the target completely as her arrow embedded itself into a tree a few meters from the target. And thus the match went on until the victors, Aife and Sylvia, were left standing in front of the targets. "Suck it!" Aife and Sylvia shouted in unison, the rest of the Rangers looked at them with a glint of happiness in their eyes. Aife and Sylvia were constantly under pressure as the leaders of the Rangers, and these were the rare moments where they let loose and relaxed with the Rangers. "Alright then girls, Aife and I are heading towards the gym to meet Jason and get the men ready to get their ass handed them." Sylvia said as her an Aife walked away from the Rangers heading back into the castle where the gym was.
"Sup Beautiful and friend, come to see me kick some ass?" Wyatt asked as Aife and Sylvia entered the gym. "Umm… excuse me but I'm Sylvia and you can't refer to Aife as 'Beautiful' because she isn't your girlfriend or your friend for you to say that" Sylvia said quite offended at the man who acted as if he was a good friend of Aife's. "Well she's not my girlfriend. That's true. But not yet." Wyatt said, emphasising on the last word. "Hello, Wyatt are you going to ogle at my sister all day, or are you actually try and take training seriously?" Jason spoke as he approached Wyatt, Aife and Sylvia. "Yeah I was, but your sister and her friend came so I was wondering if they came to see me be awesome and totally kick ass" Wyatt said in the cheekiest tone Aife, Sylvia or Jason had ever heard. Wyatt turned around and began walking towards the group of soldiers who were doing some warm ups before they began their training. "Do you think he'll survive your training Jason?" Sylvia asked Jason in mock worry with a clear glint of amusement present in her eyes. "I doubt, but hey if does manage to survive and maybe even manage to beat Kevin he just may get cocky and you or Fae here can challenge him" Jason replied with a sly smirk on his face. Aife just wondered in the midst of the conversation if Wyatt could even beat Kevin in a battle, Kevin being the weakest fighter in the army. Aife was brought out of her musing when she heard someone shout her name. "Aife! How have you been? It's been too long girl" She turned around and was tackled by someone but before they could touch her she grabbed their wrist and judo-flipped them over her shoulder. When the attacker's body met the ground with a loud thud, he groaned and got up. "SERIOUSLY!!! You just had to flip me right?" The so called 'attacker' was actually a man with the short stature of 5'6, with floppy brown hair and green eyes, this was Kevin. "Well, man up! You should've known that she would flip you. It's not every day that someone just goes and tackles them from behind" Sylvia stated in a 'duh' tone. "Yeah but…" Kevin trailed off, "Kevin, you willing to do something for me?" Aife questioned Kevin. "Anything" "Well… you know the new guy, Wyatt, right? He thinks that I will date if he manages to beat you." Aife told Kevin. "OH is that so? Well if he even tries to talk, hell even look at you, I'll make sure that the mother fluffer won't live to see tomorrow" Kevin stated with a dark aura appearing making everyone sweat-drop, although Kevin was the weakest fighter he was still very agile and cunning; and being a master pranker also being the top strategist no one wanted to get on his bad, and Wyatt just got on his bad side. Kevin and Aife practically grew up together but were not as close as Aife was to Sylvia.
The bell that signalled the beginning of training for the men rang and all the fighters assembled on the fighting mats. "Listen up men!" Jason shouted as everyone stood in attention in front of their first-in-command, "Today we will be having a visit from the Rangers as they wanted to hang out with you guys, and we will also be only having one fighting match, and that will be between Wyatt and Kevin. Now all of you get in a circle, Aife and Sylvia you guys also join" as soon as those words were out of Jason's mouth there was a large circled formed on the mats with Wyatt and Kevin standing in the centre. "Rules are simple; no breaking of bones and no permanently damaging the opponent, only bruising and minor spraining is allowed." At the mention the rules Wyatt visibly paled, wondering if there were no rules were place then how badly injured he may have been. Kevin began whining and pleading about being able to at least break one bone, at this Wyatt became even paler if that was possible. "Sorry Kevin, you know that as much as it would please Jason, Aife and I if this guy was in pain, but we need him top physical condition for our journey." Sylvia stated in a bored tone. Wyatt officially was scared out of his wits. "BEGIN!" Jason shouted. Wyatt and Kevin began circling each other. After a few rounds the two began to become annoyed as none dared make a move, until finally Wyatt cracked and attacked Kevin head on.
Wyatt went on offensive and soon his actions became sloppy, beginning to tire out. Wyatt was constantly jabbing and punching never once considering that his opponent was easily dodging his attacks and never tiring out. Finally, when Kevin had, had enough he began to go onto the offensive. Kevin had managed to get at least 5 bruises on Wyatt, who was panting heavily and drenched in sweat, while Kevin on the other hand still hadn't sweat a single drop and his breathing was still even. "OK! That's enough of that Kevin." Aife shouted from where she was standing in the circle." Aww… but come on Aife! I was just getting started!" Kevin argued. "No, Kevin. He is precious cargo remember that." Sylvia reminded. "Now,now, people, I don't any fighting between you guys." Jason scolded " I am declaring Kevin the winner for reasons obvious to everyone. Tomorrow at the crack of dawn Aife, Sylvia, Wyatt and myself will be leaving for a quest so I am leaving my Third in command in charge of you lot so make sure that you don't give him any problems. Dismissed!" All the soldiers saluted and nodded in acknowledgement and went of to train on their own as the the heroes of our story discussed the plans of their journey, well more like the siblings and Sylvia while Wyatt looked lost in his own mind. By the time everyone had completed their work it was already nighttime and they departed awaiting the next day and what it would bring in their future, not knowing what it may hold.
