I was 17 when I signed up with my best friend George. I was underage, but all I had to do was lie to them about my age. I was excited at first, the big parades, the speach the Captain made. It was all so interesting to me.

They took my weight, height, and told me to cough when I went to the doctors. All simple things, but I suppose they work. I was pronounced fit by the doctor and sent to the next room, there they gave me a uniform and told me to change.

When getting changed, George walked in, smile on his face. "This is it Oli, we're going to be a soldier!" I nodded. We were so excited back then, we didn't know what hell would be ahead of us.
