Alan's perspective
Waking up wasn't as painful as I expected from sleeping against the cold wall of the cave. I felt more energetic compared to yesterday! Though, I'm still in this world, I hate to accept this fully but I really died and got brought here.
Getting up from against the wall, I took some light stretches to make sure nothing was sore. "Seems like everything's in check. Now then, what's-" The sounds of my rumbling stomach echoed throughout the cave.
"Sounds like food is my objective today. Don't worry little stomach, I'll get something for ya" I chuckled weakly to my stupidity.
Leaving my cave, I look around from the entrance to see anything of importance. Nothing close-by unfortunately, I'll have to search deeper inside the forest.
"Last thing I need is getting lost. Hmph, guess I'll have to mark my path" I groaned in annoyance.
Grabbing a small rock nearby the entrance, I started banging it against the wall. After a bit of time, the Stone was sharp enough to work. Deciding to keep things simple, I headed North from the cave entrance, marking any trees close-by with an arrow pointing back home.
"Wonder if any of these wild fruits would be safe enough to eat" I asked myself in curiosity, an old habit of mine.
Looking above were plums just hanging right there. There's decent amounts nearby as well so getting a good haul for the night would be amazing.
Thinking irrationally, I decide to climb the tree. I didn't make any real progress in going up the tree besides falling flat on my ass a couple times.
"Ugh...if it's not the cave making me sore, it'll be the tree climbing fails…" I spoke out loud while getting off my ass.
Thinking with my stomach won't cut it. It'll only make me more hungrier…
"Think, think, think! What can I do to get-" My stomach gives out another growl of hunger.
"Damn it! I can't think like this! I can't focus-" As I yelled out in frustration, I punched the tree in anger. Hearing something snap behind me, I turned around and ran for the now falling plum.
Catching it in my left hand, I had to roll onto my back from the sudden burst of speed I made from my dash.
"Never ran like that before, just where did all that speed come from?"
To add more fuel to my mysterious moment, the tree I punched was damaged, badly. The bark itself was destroyed, showing the inside of the tree while my fist wasn't even scratched a bit.
"Another punch like that and the whole tree could come down…" I stood back up and made my way back to the tree. Just staring at it was unbelievable, did I really punch the bark off a tree without breaking a single bone? Much less a cut or scratch?
"Oh Alan, you're gonna regret doing this…" I told myself in a low tone. I took a deep breath before throwing my punch…
…
"FUCK!" I screamed out in pain as the end result of me punching a tree.
"One of my first regrets in this new world and I can't wait for more to come!" I sarcastically say, trying to laugh any bit of pain off.
Keeping my fist close to my chest, I drop the plum from my left hand to cover my now-broken right hand. This whole experience made me forget about my hunger until my stomach returned full force with it's growl.
"I hear you! Just give me a second, today couldn't get any worse" Oh how wrong I was…
Another growl was made but I knew immediately that it didn't belong to my stomach. No, in fact, it was behind me inside the thick forest.
"Oh shit…" Was the only thing I could muster to say.
Luckily, the fear hasn't set in my legs yet. I immediately ran for it, the cave was my only thought.
Following the marks I made along the trees, I quickly found my way home. Unfortunately, the wild animal did as well. It cut me off from the entrance with its large body, the figure was pitch black almost as if a shadow came to life.
The howling of the large black wolf was deafening. I couldn't feel my legs anymore as I fell to my knees, true fear made its way through my body.
"Am I really going to die...only just after being given a second chance…" I ask myself in disbelief. I didn't know if I should be disappointed or something, dying again before even twenty-fours past.
"You mustn't die! Not just yet!"
The voice was calm but alarming, I knew who it was and she was watching me. The large wolf was ready to attack at any second and I'm on my knees like some christian waiting to be blessed by god. I needed to act fast and it has to be now!
Just as the wolf made its attack to pounce onto me, I jumped back with the same mysterious burst of speed from earlier.
"Not yet! I'm not ready to die again!" I scream at the wolf. I didn't see it as any wolf or enemy, I was facing this fight head on against fate.
The wolf was more careful this time, it made its way around me. Looking for any opening, I purposely took a step forward, giving the wolf a false opening to jump into.
It took the bait quicker than I expected. As the wolf makes the charge, I move out the way of the wolf's massive bite. My attack has to end this in one hit, the wolf will only be more careful if I miss now.
Feeling a surge of power run through my body, I closed the gap between us in the blink of an eye. The wolf acted back in instinct with another attempt at biting me, I forced its mouth shut with my left hand to stop the attack.
"Know this Goddess, I don't plan on dying yet!" I shouted out before throwing a punch on top of the wolf's skull with my right hand. A crunching sound was heard as the wolf was buried into the ground.
Seconds passed before I fully took in what happened…
"I just…caved in a wolf's skull in one punch…" My voice trailed off as I looked down to my now perfectly fine right hand.
I opened and closed my fist multiple times without issue. To go from a broken hand minutes ago to a now perfectly healed hand was unbelievable. It's almost like my hand wasn't broken from the start at all!
"Just who am-" No, I already knew who I was. The question I should be asking is: "What am I?"
