Sam didn't know what direction they were going all he knew is that the makeshift cot he slept in last night was being carried by 2 of the knights that he was with last night
He had learned that their names were Marcus and James and they were his guards, all of them were his guards even the cute elf Anna.
He didn't get the others names or the name of the weirdo who came out of the woods last night, like seriously who just walked out of the woods like that??
Taking in his surroundings he noticed he was on a narrow dirt road and had like 10 fur blankets on him they were itchy but warm.
"Marcus? How long until we get there?"
Surprised to hear the young lord ask him a question when they have barely spoken two words to each other before and those were "very well" when he was introduced to the lord and that was 3 years ago.
"Well my lord we are about an hour from the edge of the territory and 3 more from the manor after that, my and Henry have made this trip twice to ensure your safety."
'Being called my lord by a big burly man doesn't have the same effect as when Anna says it'
"Please just call me Sam, my lord is a bit much now isn't it?"
And it's true if his father wasn't a financial minister in the capital then He doubts He'd be called my lord, but then again it's the same reason why he supposedly "discovered" this land, it was marked out on an old map his father found and sent an expedition in his name. 'Probably so this lout would stop trying to bed every girl in the capital and ruin his fathers name' sighing internally he couldn't help wince at the pain in his chest.
Closing his eyes he looked at the floating letters

RANK UP TO UNLOCK TRAITS!
'It looks like it's close to a game, but what are traits? At least I can rank up but do I get stronger? Or do I just unlock useless abilities ugh I want to go home!'
Spotting Anna's long flowing blonde hair he couldn't help but smile and feel at least a little happy that there's a cute elf girl here.
Coming our of the forest he couldn't help but cover his nose at the smell of cow manure assaulting his sense of smell.
'Cows? Cows mean people, and that means I'm not alone here then!'
"Anna how many people are here already?"
Hearing his voice Anna stopped in place and waited for Sam to come to her side
"About 150 settlers my lord mostly farmers but there is a cobbler a stone mason and his apprentices along with a tailor and your stable master and maids my lord."
Confused at the amount of people here the idiot opened his mouth
"But I thought this land was undeveloped?"
Sighing the elf couldn't help but secretly roll her eyes
"yes my lord but your personal house has moved here about a year ago when the manor was finished alone with about 130 workers and settlers to develop the land."
Watching the people now as he passed by their small wooden homes he couldn't help but feel like royalty.
'So this is what it's like to be important' a small grin appearing on his face he decided to imagine all the wonderful foods and clothes he must have and all the luxuries he gets to taste.
Seeing he young lord half smiling and looking like a very furry bear with a human face she couldn't help but let out a small chuckle
'He's kinda cute when he's not ruing someone's life.'
Hearing something like a pig snort his eyes couldn't help but shoot a surprised look at Anna.
"Anna was tha-"
"Ahem my lord we are almost to the manor do you wish to walk the rest of the way?"
Swearing in his mind that he will investigate the snort later he agreed with his beautiful guard and asked to be let down.
"Ah yes thank you and Anna please just call me Sam, my lord is a little much please."
"Ah of course my - Sam let me help you the rest of the way." Holding the mans arm her brows furrowed as she looked at her lord
'Strange he hates his name especially the nickname Sam.'
Seeing the manor for the first time left sams jaw touching the floor. It was a beautiful stone castle that with wooden balconies and windows with a half finished 10 foot wall around it walking through the gate he couldn't help but smile as he noticed the huge courtyard about half the size of a football field.
"It's huge! I've never seen a castle so big before!"
'That's because I grew up in Missouri idiot.'
