I watched as Nina made slow steps towards where Serenity was. Nina seemed as if she was sleepwalking. Once she got to the water edge, she got down on her knees face to face with Serenity. Serenity then abruptly grabbed Nina and dragged her under the surface of the water.
"What the fuck?!" I ran over to the edge of the water. I am completely freaking out.
"Serenity, bring my sister back up here! She can't fucking breath under there." I didn't see any movement, and I started to grow more worried about my sister's life, and that caused me to become angry. I felt my eyes shift, and I shot the pulsing light out of my hand into the water.
"If you kill my sister, I swear to fucking god!" I didn't see any movement again, and they had been under there a while now. So I did the only logical thing I could think of at that moment. I'm going into the water... where a siren lives... and she might have killed my sister... who is her soulmate... so, I mean who knows what she'll do to me... This is the right thing to do, right? "Oh, fuck it." I dove into the water and opened my eyes. It was beautiful under the water. I really wanted to admire everything, but I was on a mission to save my sister.
I kept swimming, and I still couldn't find them anywhere. Surprisingly I didn't have an urge to breathe yet. It must be a supernatural thing. I started to swim towards the bottom and to the right a bit more. As I got deeper, I saw what looked to be a hole. I swam towards it, and soon I realized it was an entrance. I felt determination surge through me, and I swam as fast as I possibly could. Once I was in there, it was a little hard to see, but my body soon adjusted, and I could see through the darkness of the water.
I was starting to feel like I needed to go up for air soon, but that definitely wasn't going to happen. Great, I'm going to fucking die anyway. I swam a little faster, and soon I started to see a light above me. I swam up towards the light. I broke through the surface of the water, gasping in a few big deep breaths. I looked around frantically, and soon I found Serenity and my sister. Serenity was sitting on the edge of the rock formation holding my sister close to her.
"What the hell did you do to my sister?" Serenity looked at me, and her eyes were glowing as she hissed at me.
"Don't hiss at me. That's my sister unconscious in your arms." I swam closer, but Serenity seemed to be growing more animalistic every inch I got closer.
"She's mine." I put up my hands a bit.
"Yeah, I get it; she's your soulmate. But she is also my sister. She is human; she can't live in the water with you." Serenity looked down at my sister, who was still unconscious.
"I can change her, and she can stay here forever." I sighed out.
"Serenity, that isn't fair to her. She has a family on the surface, and she needs to make the decision on if she wants to be turned or not. You can't make it for her." Serenity didn't face me at all; she never took her eyes off my sister. Instead, she was caressing Nina's cheek lovingly.
"I would never hurt her." Serenity turned to me. No longer unhinged. Her eyes showed how sincere she was about the statement she made.
"I'll go to the surface with you both." I looked at her questioningly.
"Ummm, how are you supposed to do that?" Serenity looked down at my sister and smiled.
"Since my mate is a land dweller, I will now be able to transform and have legs. I will be able to walk the surface with her and spend the rest of our lives together." My eyebrows raised a little at this.
"And when you are in the water, will you be able to have your fin again?" She looked at me and nodded. We both snapped our heads in the direction of the small groan coming from Nina. Nina jolted up a little bit and was nose to nose with Serenity. I honestly felt pretty awkward... This feels like more of a personal moment.
"Well then... I am just going to make my way out of her now. I'll see you both back up at the surface." They both hummed in response, never looking in my direction. I shook my head at the two of them. I hope Noor and I don't ever look like that. Cringy.
I turned around and made my way back to the main part of the lake and to the surface. Once I broke the surface, I saw Noor standing at the edge, looking worried. She held out her hand, and I took it gratefully.
"Thank you for helping me out of the water." Noor engulfed me in a hug.
"My love, what happened? I felt your overwhelming fear and anger." I melted into her embrace fully. It felt good having her this close, especially after leaving things on a bad note.
"Long story short, Serenity and Nina are mates. Serenity snatched Nina and drug her under the surface of the water. I got scared and angry that she would kill my sister. I decided to swim down and find them. Well, I found them. They'll be up on the surface later when they are done staring at each other." I looked up at Noor.
"Are we ever that cringy?" Noor was about to say something when a voice cut her off.
"Yes, you two can be that cringy." I looked behind me to find Nina and Serenity. I just rolled my eyes.
"Whatever. Glad to see you both back on the surface. Thought it would be another hour or so before you too stopped staring at each other like you were in a trance." Nina waved me off. She brought herself back up onto dry land and stuck her hand out for Serenity to take. Serenity seemed a little apprehensive.
"I'm scared." Serenity's voice was a small whisper.
"It will be okay. I promise I won't let anything happen to you." Nina gave Serenity a reassuring smile, and Serenity finally took Nina's hand. As Nina raised Serenity up onto the grass, you could see Serenity's tail fin slowly transition into legs. It was really cool to see. Nina hurriedly took off her shirt and gave it to Serenity to cover up.
"Thank you." Serenity clung onto Nina with one arm wrapped around Nina's neck, and Nina steadied Serenity in return. Safe to say, Serenity was going to be walking around like Bambi for a little bit.
"Well, you two are adorable together. A perfect match, to be honest." Noor turns most of her attention to Serenity now. "I am so, so happy for you. I know how long you've been waiting for your soulmate." Serenity gave Noor a huge smile, and she peered down at my sister. Serenity was only a couple of inches taller but nonetheless still taller.
"Yeah, she is perfect." She bent down a bit and kissed the top of my sister's head. I could see the blush start to rise on Nina's face.
"Awe. Look, she's blushing." Nina's blush immediately wiped off her face.
"Shut up." She shot daggers at me as she said this. All I did in return was laugh: all bark, no bite.
"I think I have had enough fresh air. We all need to change and shower. Once we're done, we can all eat, and then I will translate those final pages." I looked at everyone, and the newly found soulmates smiled at one another.
"Sounds like a great plan, my love. Let's head in now." After Noor said that, we all made our way back towards our home. It is our home now, not just a castle or just a palace.
