Everyday is mind-numbingly boring at Tranquil Falls Mental Hospital. Very Regulated. Quiet to it's core. Everyone purely moving one step closer to sweet freedom.
And that's exactly what they want anyone on the outside to believe. It's very superficial. Just what the families need to see on visitations. They only need reassurance that their beloved mother, father, sister, or brother that they sent away is in great hands.
Only the ones on the inside truly know what goes on behind those ominous metal doors. It's not quiet. Nor is it well regulated. Rarely are medications ever administered on time. A patient may have yet to perish under the "careful watch" of the doctors and nurses, but who's to say the time for that isn't drawing near. Although it can be said that Tranquil Falls has improved quite a bit over the last year.
I would know. I've been in Tranquil Falls Mental Hospital for four years. My family drove me here, signed the paperwork, and scattered to the wind, rarely to be seen again. A few surprise visits from my twin brother is just about all the family contact I get.
But they left me here because Tranquil Falls is a treatment center. A center for all sorts of people. "Overly" anxious? Tranquil Falls will take you in! Frequent run-a-away? Tranquil Falls will take you. Did you excessively take your medications to dissociate from the world? Tranquil Falls will take you.
Although by now I'm sure my point has made it across now. They go only for the superficial "wounds", then release us back out into the open world. Except for me. I'm managed to not leave in four years. Doctor's have given up on me, traded me for a different patient, quit just to get away. I'm not alone in that, either. Dorian and Harper have had this issue.
They require a show of progress in order to want to keep working with their assigned patient. No progress? Patient goes to new doctor. Cycle continues.
It's like each one of us have third degree burns, but the doctors and nurses are acting as well as treating the burn like a first degree. Only the superficial matters.
