A/N: This chapter is meant to be an infodump for some concepts used in the story, so please bear with it a little. Thank You!
The 11-year-old boy was eavesdropping in the entire conversation. he wondered in his mind, who was the person Uncle was talking with? Do I know them?
"He was most probably that creepy looking guy who hangs about here. You know that pretty big guy, he did seem like a nice guy but the way he was stealing glances at you, made me think otherwise."
Another "person" in the boy's head spoke up. Not questioning anything, he went back to his room. He sat down in the corner of that quite lavishly decorated room. The room had quite a big bed occupying the northern part and a window right beside it. The shelf filled with books gave the impression of a book-worm and there was a television which clearly looked expensive in the western part of the room. the room was clearly very big for a 11-year-old. the room was divided into two parts by a large and heavy curtain, the east part had the bed, wardrobe and all, with the west part having the TV, bookshelf and a big round table with some mechanical equipment on it.
Jennovice sat near the curtain and then he noticed the bright golden color of the curtain. He silently and very weirdly stared at the curtain.
Tear! Snap!
With extreme force he tore the curtain and the hanging pole with it. The pure anger and disgust in his face was visible. he muttered to himself something in an inaudible voice. Then he shook his head and lied down on the bed. He started to gather up what he knew till that day. He had never told anyone anything but things were not as simple as they seemed for that boy. He had an uncanny sense of not belonging to the places he had always been, the weirdest part was that he could remember every single detail, since his very birth! When Jennovice was first born, he felt a sense of bewilderment, a sense of losing something. The very first thing he could remember was first asking himself, right after being born, 'where am I? Where is this place?'. It was as if he had a consciousness even before being born.
"But that's all." Jennovice let out a long sigh. He could not remember anything about his life after that and his memory started once again when he was four years old, right after his entire family was killed in a diabolic fire.
He tried to believe that the experiences he went through was the same for other people too, but deep in his heart he was aware that it was not the case. His feelings were proven to be right when Dr. Akira Daves told him how unusual it was for people to be aware of absolutely anything after birth, although she was not a psychiatrist, her words did make sense to Jennovice. Although he did not tell Akira about his experience.
He tried very hard to remember anything which might have happened in that four years of his life, and not to mention, before he was actually born. It might sound ridiculous as to how and why a sane person would actually try to remember what happened before their birth, but believe me, "Everything in this world is ridiculous."
His attempt was not totally for no reason, because he could remember some bits of knowledge, he had no memory of learning. Which made him believe further that there was probably something before he was born in this place called the 'Clan of Lankester'.
The boy shouted in frustration since he was unable to remember anything between the time span of his birth and the fire which killed the Lankester, popularly known as the Lankester Fire. But suddenly a blue flash appeared beside him. he turned his head around and a blue screen was floating in the air beside him. the screen read as following.
[NAME: (present) JENNOVICE LANKESTER || (past) --------- --------
AGE: 11 Y (485 Y)
SPECIES: (present) WEREWOLF/NON KEEPER || (past) HALF SIREN HALF CALLIGROU/ KEEPER
ABILITY: ACTIVE-NONE
PASSIVE- RESSURECTION
CLEARANCE LEVEL: 3 (457)
INCARNATOR: NONE
CURRENT STATE: FORCED IMPLANTATION
MEMORY STATE: AMNESIAC
SPEACIAL STATUS: SYNTHETIC DIRECT BESTOWED|| -------- & --------
JOB: PLAYER]
".....What?" Jennovice was shocked by the sudden appearance of a suspicious screen like that.
He recovered from his initial shock a few minutes later and then he took a careful look again. It seemed like that screen was something like a status window. He was also shocked to realize that the suspicious 'status window' accurately knew of the fact that he was indeed amnesiac. It made him believe that maybe, just maybe he was truly what the 'status window' was saying.
But there were still some seeds of doubt.
I mean, it's not that hard for people to know my name, age and race and as for my amnesia, if dug deep enough, they would probably be able deduce or find that out too.
Jennovice decided to not take the 'status window' as the absolute truth, he would verify the given information first.
But there was another problem, as an amnesiac, the boy did not have much opportunity to check the validity of the information presented in front of him, but something aroused his curiosity, two sentences.
SPECIES: (present) WEREWOLF and SPEACIAL STATUS: SYNTHETIC DIRECT BESTOWED.
"Synthetic what?" That was the first he had ever heard of that description about himself.
It feels like I know of that term, but how come I'm unable to remember it, what is it exactly?
The boy was suspicious, he took a look again. Only to find the words of interest censored up.
SPEACIAL STATUS: ------------- ------------ || -------- & --------
"…..
"What's the point of censoring it now?"
Jennovice was pretty annoyed by this development. This was the first he felt so lost about himself, his senses were telling him that it was pure stupid to just believe a random floating window, but he could not just ignore it either, it was mainly due to the fact that he himself did not know much about himself either. It was also due to the feelings he used to get randomly, the feeling of losing something, the feeling of knowing that something was there but unable to remember what.
Just as he was once again about to plop down on the bed scattered words started to appear in his head, first alphabets then words, then sentences started to form.
"Here it comes!" Jennovice felt excited for the new information he will be receiving. He stayed with his eyes closed for a few minutes, as if trying to interpret some hard bits of information.
Minutes turned into hours, when Jennovice opened his eyes, it was already the morning in the next day. He was sweating profusely. Phew, I didn't realize how long it actually took, although it is a fun experience to get to know something without actually studying it, but the process of it is too long and kind of dangerous for my body which is left unguarded in the material world. Jennovice quieted down and begin to recollect the knowledge he randomly gained.
The entire universe is connected with a network system, called the 'System', as for why it had an awfully earthly name, he had no idea. 'System' was kind of a social media A.I., instead, it was probably not programmed by anyone and it does not view its creators as enemies. The System was a being with sentient, it took orders from basically no one, and it did not provide its services to just any one, it chose who to serve.
Jennovice felt a little bit of doubt, 'basically no one' it said…. That means there can be someone right?
The System was omniscient, it knew everything about everywhere, everyone and it stored all the information it collected inside a humongous library called the 'Database', pretty basic name, easy to remember. And that was where the fun begins. The people System chose to give its service to, could access this Database but it also depended on a parameter called 'Clearance'. Jennovice remembered that word on his 'status window'.
Does that mean I'm someone who can access the Database? I'll have to try it out.
Hmm, it seems like not everyone knows of the System because this is the first time, I have heard of all these, then the person I get this information from, it might be me from my previous life, was also someone who got the service of the System, now the question is how much? How much did they know?
Jennovice felt pretty tired from all those thinking, so he decided to sleep some more but as soon as his head hit the pillow, a gender-neutral voice started talking, "You forgot the most important bit of information to recollect, you need to write it down so that you don't forget!". He decided to ignore the poor person and bother about the 'status window' later.
The blue ethereal window kept floating beside him with a little static on the word 'AMNESIAC'.
