Chapter 8 - 08: Diary

Seng is weird. The first few days after I woke up he forced me to do long training sessions. He taught me to do push-ups, sit-ups, and stretches.

At first it was easy for me, doing ten reps of each was nothing, at first. After he increased the amount, every day we went up ten by ten, after a while the numbers were values that he heard for the first time.

Now that he asks me to write a journal I remember that and my arms hurt.

How do you expect me to do series of seventy by seventy in less than a week?

At least that supposed awakening made me feel more energetic.

And he gave me a nice sword.

Today was terrible.

It's annoying having to write this when I want to go to sleep.

Seng if you read this I want you to know that I detest you.

Like every morning, today Seng warmed up and exercised with me, although he later asked me to help him wash the house for the thousandth time this month.

Something that I don't quite understand is why I should write this diary. I'm supposed to beat a demon, not bore it with lyrics.

He says that it is a necessary thing in the future of society and that I should be infinitely grateful that he has the patience to have taught me to write and to let me use his old empty books.

But this is worthless if my mother can't read it.

————————————————————————————————————

I've already spent at least three months with Seng.

How I would like to see my mother, or my father, or my brother or someone other than that guy.

He's too strict; he complains all day that I haven't made any progress, which is a lie.

I have learned to write and read, I can do many many push-ups and exercises that he asks of me, I run with him around the mountain, cook, clean, I can enhance my physical abilities, summon my creatures easily and quickly.

I don't understand what he's complaining about.

He himself said that discovering the resonances of my soul would be a long process.

It's not my fault we didn't discover them.

Excerpts from page number sixty.

————————————————————————————————————

Today Seng explained more to me about resonances.

According to most of those who have studied the subject, it is impossible to decide what they are. That they are something we come into the world with, immutable or whatever that means.

Although he also told me that some defend that the changes in our mind, in our soul are what causes the resonances in the first place.

That the argument to defend that is the small number of people who are capable of using magic from a young age and that the common thing is that they go through a lot before they achieve it.

But he said that doesn't make sense because unless it's a ridiculous resonance no one can do those things without practice or training.

That makes sense, I have been a month and a half and apart from discovering Brillito I have not achieved anything else.

But, if it is true that your experiences determine your resonances, what kinds of things must happen to you in order to create ice and manipulate your shadow?

I'm not cutting my hair Seng. My mother always loved my hair, me too, my daddy loves how silky it is and I plan to leave it that way.

NO.

————————————————————————————————————

Today I finally understood that feeling that he told me about every day.

It seems that I can use the light in some way, maybe it's because Brillito spends a lot of time talking to me, but now if I think about the flowers in my mother's garden I can make my hand light up.

I have a bit of a hard time maintaining it but sometimes I can also make some other place shine like my face or my feet.

Seng teaches me postures every day, like hitting, kicking.

I'm tired.

This is not adventure, this is not really fun.

Page number ten.

————————————————————————————————————

Lately Seng has disappeared for a couple of days, but since I know that he is going to hit me, leave me without food, or whatever else I can't stop doing my practices and writing in this diary.

I don't know what my unfortunate teacher is doing.

————————————————————————————————————

I told him what I managed to do with the light, he looked strange, he was kind of relieved and but at the same time angry.

I don't understand, first he gets angry because I have not achieved anything for months and now he gets angry because I achieve something.

He's an hypocrite

Page number seventy-four.

————————————————————————————————————

It's not fair.

Seng is a cheater.

Now he forces me to sleep up nights unless I can hit him with the sword.

But the very cheeky one spends his time running during the night so that something happens to me in the dark when I follow him.

And when I think I can touch him with the tip of the sword, he uses his damn shadow.

Please Seng, I know you read this sometimes, let me sleep, I'm exhausted; you told me you wouldn't do it again.

————————————————————————————————————

Today I saw the rarest animal, creature or thing in the world.

He was big and fuzzy, he walks in the air dragging his arms slowly. He had huge teeth, no eyes. His color seemed to be whatever was behind him.

Seng had told me that when we use our soul resonance too much, instead of getting tired we usually go into a coma, something like falling asleep awake.

He told me that this thing is looking for someone in that state, and once he finds it that person never returns to normal.

Seng had told me about many other dangerous creatures and how to defeat or avoid them, but this was the first time I had seen him worried.

The good thing is that I earned a week off.

Seng is always reading something in his book. When he has nothing to do he takes it and sits under a tree while ordering me to continue.

I wonder why he is always sad when he reads it.

———————————————————————————————————

Today I was about to hit him with the sword.

I took advantage of the fact that his ice weapons are made of ice and broke it with a stronger blow than usual and continued attacking even though he had ordered me to stop if that happened.

Then I spent the night hanging from a tree.

I don't understand you.

First he tells me that in real combat there are no rules, that unless there are other people or some other consequence that honor doesn't matter and other stupid things that my brother would have hated to hear.

But he gets angry when I try to apply his words. If I had defeated him I couldn't have hung up.

You should congratulate me.

Moron.

————————————————————————————————————

He's an idiot.

He is strong and smart.

But he is an idiot.

Arkgas told me that Seng was a good boy but he isn't.

I don't care if he punishes me for writing this, I have to complain.

He keeps calling me Brat over and over.

I swear I am going to force him to recognize me for who I am, Airys, the Chosen One and the greatest adventurer in the world.

Which would be easier if he let me go on adventures instead of being locked up here on this mountain full of "weak" beasts that can eat me.

————————————————————————————————————

This day Seng saw me bathing in the river and ignored me when I yelled at him and left without apologizing.

I Am A Lady.

If dad was here he would have beaten him up, well maybe not, but he would have yelled at him too.

Seng will be very strong but he is not a gentleman. Lacks education.

Page number forty-three.

————————————————————————————————————

I miss my family.

I would like to be able to send you a letter, tell you that even though it's horrible, I'm still alive.

Page number 173.

————————————————————————————————————

"Was it really so hard for you to do this Brat?" Seng with his right arm held the leg of the boy who was trying his best to free himself and hit Seng without any fruit, in the other hand he had the sword that she almost lost.

Airys snarled and screeched inside herself, cursing her damned master.
