It's over.
That would claim anyone who saw Seng receive that cruel chain on his cheek. Seng opened his eyes wide as a result of the immense impression caused by the pain, perhaps it had impacted some nerve and for that reason he felt a discharge go through his being.
But Eheron is not a rookie, no sir, that second attack was just the beginning of the torture.
He repositioned his arm and with a powerful jerk redirected the chain. Seng reflexively created a small wall of shadow that served him just as well as the first time. The knee, the back, the shoulder… each one of Eheron's attacks managed to reach Seng to cause an eerie crack that spread, scaring away the creatures of the forest.
Eheron had no intention of killing him, yet.
It was enough for him to knock him out, but ...
Seng's shadow kept moving and changing shape. Seng is suffering, he should have lost his concentration and be unable to use his resonances, instead of continuing to project those futile barriers, he would have to stop.
For his sake.
"Don't make me do it" Eheron thought. It was not the first time he had witnessed this kind of behavior.
Those who are skilled with his resonances, those who have trained countless days, who have dedicated themselves to being able to use his ability even in the worst of situations, tend to do exactly the above… Use them.
As beings of habit, it is almost impossible to run away from them. On the other occasions, those who would have been great rivals and threats to him and Garyon became predictable creatures when they got into such a situation. Incredible resonances that if he overcome the pain and focused his soul on exterminating the source of his wounds might have preserved his life.
Seng was covered in his arms, still at the mercy of the chains.
Seng's resonances did not fall into the category of the above, unless his shadow is able to travel five meters —more than twice his effective range —Eheron can devote his efforts to decimate Seng's health and invalidate every escape tactic.
In Eheron's eleventh attack, the one targeting the popliteal fossa broke the pattern.
Seng fixed her eyes on Eheron and instead of putting his shadow in the middle as a defensive barrier from Berserker, he gathered it under his feet to propel himself up and avoid the blow.
Eheron tightened the chain surprised, apparently Seng was not like the last three and didn't give in to his instincts, it only took a while to understand the situation well.
It doesn't matter anyway, dodging one wouldn't save him.
Eheron aimed his next attack at Seng's neck in midair, the precision was exact and the technique impeccable. Failing felt so horrible to him when Seng avoided it by pulling on his feet that were still connected to the shadow and ducking.
What was happening? Was it he who gave in to his ways?
"As you wish" he muttered inadvertently as he activated the second resonance of his.
The kinetic energy and the force of gravity affecting the chains disappeared. Eheron shook the chains from the start and like a wave they turned in an unrealistic direction straight towards Seng. The one on the right managed to hit Seng's head lightly, however, the next one that was aimed at his chest missed.
Eheron didn't stop. He barely moved his arms compared to the singular way the chains stayed in midair.
It was an adaptation duel.
Who will win? Eheron's incredible ability to control his chains better than a veteran dancer to his ties, or Seng who had been defying the concept of terrain for half a minute to save his butt.
The answer is obvious. They both knew it.
The one who is on the offensive will never lose without taking damage and the one who defends will never win without causing it.
As much as Seng uses his shadow to pull himself from side to side, jump in the air creating a wall, push himself sideways, crawl on the ground while moving... he will not be able to give Eheron what he deserves in that state, surviving.
How difficult.
The only thing he could think of to close the gap between them was to lash out with everything, ignoring the pain and groan in his body. It wasn't a great plan.
At that moment, after evading the last attack, Seng leaned his back against a tree and Eheron manipulated the chain on his left hand in order to end the fight. Seng supposed that the same one that would try to nail it in his chest or face, for that reason he was greatly scared when he saw that it was not going directly to him.
I have already said it and I repeat it, it does not matter that he has adapted to receive one out of every ten hits, at some point Seng will fail.
And that moment is when he is immobilized.
The chain passed him and spun with astonishing speed through the tree. Seng was confused.
"Didn't they go through it all? Fool!" He said to himself when he realized whether they go through or not, if they wrap around him it will be the end.
Just before the chain completed its circular path, Seng took a direct hit from the other chain to his forehead and used his shadow to propel himself up and then leapt using as a base the tree that was almost not his grave.
In the air he was vulnerable. Being more than a meter and a half from the ground, from where his shadow arises most of the time, reminded him of the wounds he carried on top of him and how terrible his body would feel once the adrenaline left his system.
He was already screwed.
So why not give it a try? There is nothing to regret.
By falling on his hands and knees to the ground he took the first step to be the master of the offense, surround himself with his shadow... completely.
That perhaps it is useless because the chains will cross and impact the same? That doesn't interest him!
His goal in surrounding himself in his shadow was to surpass the limiter he would soon reach.
Because, although his resistance is enormous, in a given instant he will be exhausted and Eheron will finish him off. So he must abandon the perception of his body as the source of motion of his existence and enter into the concept that his soul is the one who forces that machine of flesh and bones to act.
And he is fortunate to have a second method to accomplish that task.
Wearing his shadow like a suit and using it to move his entire body — if necessary —breaking him in the process.
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha!" Seng laughed like a psychotic and launched his savage rush against Eheron.
