Mary's contractions had increased on the ride to the hospital and it showed she was in severe pains. Jesus had decided to show up a little bit earlier as Mary was due in a week's time. Joseph looked over to his sweetheart. 'You'd be fine, I promise you.' All Mary could do at that moment was to nod her head. Her body hurt as the seconds passed. They finally reached the hospital and she was taken in by the nurses. Joseph took out their emergency delivery bag and followed them in. Joseph went to fill in the necessary information there was to know about Mary.
A nurse came up to them and asked 'How do you feel now?' Mary nodded slightly and tried to mouth, fine. 'Lets take you to the ER.' Some nurses came up and assisted them.
'Would you want an epidural?' The nurse went on and on repeating the same queastion as if to drive home a point. Mary looked over at Joseph.
'I want a natural birth. Stop asking me the same question over and over again.' Mary sighed. She had planned on giving birth without the use of any drugs to aid her delivery. 'I don't want to have drugs in my system. That's manipulating my body, you know?' Mary added.
'You heard her. She said she doesn't want it and you're asking her right in the middle of a contraction. She outrightly said she does not want it!' Joseph said reaffirming what Mary said.
The Nurse looked at them as if they were dumb, stupid people 'You have no idea what she's going through, she's a young girl for crying out loud.'
'You have no right to tell her what she can and cannot do' Joseph said almost shouting at the peak of his voice.
' And you have no right to speak to him that way. He is my partner. We have worked this all out. We have talked about this for hours. We have written it down. We have talked to our parents. We have done everything! And you … you have no right to tell me what I want'. Mary chipped in.

The contractions started getting painful after about 20 minutes. Mary started to hold her breath a little bit throughout the contractions. Joseph just stood by her side and was there telling her to breathe. Few minutes later the doctor came in and advised Mary to take an epidural. Reluctantly, Mary accepted to take the epidural.
After the epidural, Mary felt so comfortable than she had felt for the past one hour and she slept.

Mary woke up some hours later and the nurse told her she wasnt ready for delivery, so the nurse put her into a position where her feet were elevated and her head was lower than the rest of her body. Mary was skeptical about this but the nurse advised it would help her dilate faster. She started feeling sick immediately they did this so they put her back upright, then she started feeling sick every time she reclined and after that the nurses let her lie on her side.
The nurse left and she tried to get some more rest. About ten minutes later she felt so lightheaded and was about to faint, the monitors went beserk and went off. The nurse rushed in and put adrenaline through her IV.
'Her blood pressure has dropped.' The first nurse was heard saying.
'I think shes about to go into labor.' The doctor named Dr Jones said as he came and in and checked Mary's heartbeat. After that she started to feel twinges in her lower right side. The doctor gave her a booster from the anesthesiologist and she felt fine. After she got her booster, her progress was checked and she was ready to start pushing.
The nurse got Joseph, to come over and they told her to try a few pushes. She started to push and after two pushes she said "STOP pushing!" She grabbed Mary's call button and told them she needed another nurse immediately to break the bed down.
Joseph was confused at all what just happened. This wasn't like the normal childbirth they had dreamt of.
'I feel pressure and I need to push.' Mary insisted. "Dr. Jones, you need to get up and come over here and catch!

The cries and shouts of the doctors were minimized by the cry of the baby. Jesus was born on the 25th of December by 2am.
He had come to the world and was just like any other baby. He struggled to come out of the world like every other baby. It wasn't as if they expected something more, but they had expected an easier birth. One without pain. Mary looked at Jesus as he smiled at her causing her insecurities to pass away for that moment.

Joseph was called aside by Dr. Jones after the delivery.
'I noticed the girl you brought in is quite young...' He looked down at the form in his hand before looking up at Joseph. '....and from here it seems like you are engaged to be married.'
Joseph nodded his head in agreement.
'The police are outside to see you and Mary. They said they got a call from a receptionist reporting assault on a minor.' Joseph immediately knew what he was talking about. He should have had a second thought on why the receptionist put a call through to the police immediately they left.
'There is no truth in that.I better go see to it that it's all cleared out.' The Doctor looked at Joseph as he walked towards the hospital's hallway.
'Good Morning Gents.' Joseph greeted the policemen as he walked up to them. 'How may I be of help to you this early morning?'
'We got a call a few hours ago saying a girl who was being trafficked and assaulted was pregnant and with a man who looked old enough to give birth to her.We contacted the hospital and here we are talking to you.' It wasn't true that Joseph could give birth to her but the past few months had kept him looking older than his age. 'Could we have some information about you two?.' The Black five feet tall policeman asked.
Joseph went ahead and gave him all vital information concerning Mary and him but he left out the part concerning her baby being the Savior. The time to announce the birth of a saviour hadn't come yet. God had told them he'd work it out and work it out shall He.
