The pain went through my body like a wave. I curled myself into a ball as he hit me again and again. I lie helpless on the floor. I could feel each thread of the carpet on my skin as he stepped on me. My arm is starting to feel numb. The smell of alcohol gives me a headache. Eventually he gets tired and heads to his room. All I can feel is pain. After a short time I get up to clean. When I finished cleaning the house I get some ice. The Ice helps with the pain. I have been hurt enough times that I don't have to worry about others seeing bruises on me. My father is still asleep when my friend arrives the next day. I smile and tell he my father is tired from working late. We leave shortly after to see a movie. He will never know the truth. It is a secret my father and I will always keep.
