I rubbed the spot behind my ear, the reason I tried to wear my hair down while I was in public.
The scars there weren't that visible anymore but I was still self conscious about them.
I had gotten these scars not long after I had been placed with Chris and Sally...(continued)
When I was nine they used to put out their cigarettes against my neck, but the favored place was right behind my ear.
The doorbell to my apartment rang jerking me back into reality, I quickly pull my clothes back on and step over to the door, who could it be?
I stand on my tip toes and look through the peeky hole in my door and see a young woman standing in the hallway.
I slap my forehead, I had completely forgotten that I had ordered Chinese takeout.
I open the door.
The young woman smiles at me warmly.
"Sophie Fletcher?" She asks, I smile back.
"That's me!" I reply cheerily, she hands me my food.
"Stay warm a snow storm is coming!" I call after her as she leaves, she laughs and gives me a thumbs up.
I close the door and grin down at my food, I go into the kitchen and hop up on the counter and cross my legs like I was back in preschool and open my food.
I picked up my chopsticks and dig in, after a few minutes I look down and see my goldfish Frank staring up at me.
"What?" I ask.
He continues to stare up at me.
I go back to eating.
"Ugh! What!" I hop off the counter and plant my hands on either side of the bowl, putting my face down to the fishbowl and staring in.
Frank just sits there.
"I got to get a better pet." I mumble, a few bubbles escape Franks mouth almost as if he just sighed in disappointment.
"Even my own goldfish is disappointed in me." I grumble stomping over to the couch, I switch on the wall mounted tv and watch the weather, trying to distract myself from Frank.
I keep glancing over my shoulder at him every now and then and his two beady eyes stare back. What a creep.
"Fucking fish." I grumble.
