Chapter 4 - Chapter four

The light that peeked through the white blinds  settled on Amelia's face. She stirred on the bed, before opening her eyes to white walls. Her mind hazy from her last memory, as she tries to collect pieces of what she just experienced. The missing memories finally fixed itself in its correct place in the puzzle. Amelia grabbed the white duvet and flung it off her body, escaping from the warm bed.

Amelia looked around the room,  white surrounding everything and a small window beside the bed. She made her way to the window and peeked through the white blinds. What she could see shocked and confused her.

Outside was a large field and surrounding the field were many large buildings, and larger buildings behind them. Where was she?

Could it have been a mental asylum, and she imagined her life. There was no way. She doubted herself, nothing was making sense. But then a loud ring echoed from outside her room and a few seconds later laughter and voices could be heard through the window. Amelia fixed her gaze to the direction of one of the building doors. Soon hundreds of students made their way out onto the field.

Amelia paid attention to the people and realised that they were around the same age as her and children who were younger. She gasped at the sight of a young child who looked at most five. Her body stilled when her eyes made contact with the child. Her hand covered her mouth as though she had to keep herself quiet.

Anxiety flowed through her body, she had no idea where she was and what was happening.  Turning her back to the window she ran towards the door. Her hand turning the handle but the door was locked . She slammed her hand on the surface and shouted for help, but silence was returned. Her body felt weak, she was hyperventilating. Her room become smaller and the walls were closing in on her.

Her body fell to the ground, her legs no longer able to support her. Amelia dragged her body to the end of the bed, her back placed on the wall and her knees brought up to her face.

Time moved forward, her body still positioned by the wall . Her eyes stained red with dried tear marks. The sound of the door handle turning was clear , yet she sat ignoring her only escape.

"Hello Amelia"

Amelia's eyes shot open to the women at the door.
