"Creston the only way that I let you back into our life is if you get rid of that bitch out of the house in the Estate and you stay in the guest house for six months."
Gloria swirled the class of Rumpari with the ice by the pool, as Creston leaned on the wall. Her bathing suit left nothing for his imagination, and all he could do was look. She had relaxed the conditions of the restraining order to allow him visitation.
I am serious Creston you really messed up this one, I don't know what hold she had on you for you to have given her the house we bought for investment purposes and to have given her a brand new HRV. Shaving cream boy, she had you whipped. So, what happened so that she ran your sorry ass back to your wife? Hah! Serves you right. Who told you that I would ever want you back near me Creston Chin? You are going to pay for what you have done to me for the rest of your earning life. The embarrassment and ridicule you put me through and you have the nerve to come to my yard to say you are sorry and if we can work things out! Well, let me tell you this all after you have done, even with a dozen AIDS tests and wearing five condoms there is no way in Gloria Thompson Chin's life that you are coming near this body again! So don't even think that I will allow you in my bed ever again or else they will be wrapping your body in a sheet on the way to the morgue."
Gloria I have long accepted that I made a mistake and even the legal system practices some modicum of leniency for a first offence. Yes we are divorced only because of the fact that we pulled a few strings to legally separate us from the marriage that we had. You must admit that I am a good provider, loving father and husband."
"Creston don't even use that word to me talking about love. If you loved me, you would not have dragged the family through that turmoil and embarrassment of the social scenes knowing that you had this quality hair to play in and you left it to play in plastic! Just imagine you were eating meat of European decent raised and cultured, but instead you wanted the cheapest chicken back to sink your teeth instead, with all the fat and grease. You have no taste frankly, and you are a shame to your family's name. You chose dark meat, Creston not fine succulent sliced fish. So, since you have made your choice just hug it up. Look at yourself potbellied, ragged
and unshaven. In all my years I have never seen you look so emaciated and unkempt.
You went black and now you can't come back. You can't return to the heights from which you have fallen. Pull yourself together man; people only want to do business with people who look successful. Besides I need my five hundred thousand dollars at the end of the month or else its back to court and I am going to tell Daddy to ensure that you never set foot in this house, ever again, or even glimpse your two children. And just so you don't forget, the money that was used to buy that bitch that car and the house technically, fifty percent of it is mine, and I don't care what the agreement said, I want my half in the next four weeks."
"Shit Gloria you know I don't have that kind of
liquidity."
"I don't care Creston. Karma is a bitch isn't it. When you were sneaking around and gallivanting with that whore, you didn't have a problem with liquidity then. Did you Creston? Imagine she even had the temerity to join the same gym. What a piece of brightness!"
"Gloria you are blowing things out of proportion, I did not buy her the car I only stood as guarantor and technically you signed the sale agreement for the house to the holding company and used the money to tour Europe. I might have made a simple mistake but it's your recollection of the facts that has distorted this entire thing. You drove me into her comfort I could not take the cold icy winds with you always howling about something."
"What are you now saying Creston? That it was my bipolar behaviour that pushed you away? You realise that if you don't take this deal that I am offering, your ability to practice law in Jamaica will be seriously jeopardised? Confidence will be declining when word goes out in the circles that you can't manage your money very well."
"Wouldn't that be shooting yourself in the foot Gloria?"
"Hell, no honey! I have my money and I don't care what you have to do I need my cheque just the same."
Creston looked up at the sky and rolled his eyes. The pressure was building by the minute as he looked at his ex-wife casually sipping her drink and talking down to him as if he was the yard boy. Nothing in life gave her the authority to behave and treat him as if he was a piece of turd on the lawn. He felt as if all that was left, was for him was to be scraped up and placed in the garbage, but yet she needed her cheque and wanted to keep up appearances. By telling him to leave the property each day, to return home at nights to be subjugated and berated about a short whirlwind affair, was to keep him
feeling like a slave to her.
He felt a deep yearning inside him for his lost fiery love. Where the hell was Jenny? He needed to just sit and pour himself out and let her filter his thoughts before he made another mistake.
"Anyway Gloria, I can't take much more of this, so I am going to leave and I will give you an answer to your proposal very soon."
Creston looked at his reflection in the pool and smiled, the pony tail had grown and the beard had given him a rugged look almost like Steven Sméagol in the movie 'Hard to Kill.' He growled under his breath, "Hunk."
