In one of the seaside quarters, a man with wounds on the half of his face got out of his car and took the machetes from passenger seat. He had taken out them when he was tired of being constantly alert and to be honest, it was hard to drive when you are equipped with machetes. He casually put the belt holster on his shoulder, it was custom made for his beloved machetes.
The rain began to fall with a lightning that was breaking the skies. Water, life giving and nourishing water, would never hurt Jason. However today he didn't want to get wet so the rain drops didn't touch him.
Before Jason reached his home, the home reached him in the form of a giant salivating dog. The dog eager to cuddle destroy Jason's hopes of getting home while he is still dry. A skinny boy also came running after the dog.
''Jason! You are alive!'' The boy said out of breath.
''Don't I supposed to be alive?'' Jason asked as he cleaned the giant dog's saliva from his face. The dog stood beside Jason, its tail was swinging in the air from side to side.
''Old man Zack said that 'That bum finally got into the wrong person and joined the God in the after life before paying the month's rent' and said 'If he doesn't show up in a week I'll sell all his stuff' and said...''
Jason interrupted the boy, ''I got it, you can stop. Did you feed the Monster?'' The boy nodded with a very serious expression on his face. Jason smiled, ''You two are good boys.'' Stroking the dog, he thought he should buy the boy a gift. They started walking to the old man's 'mansion'.
''Did the rich man waiting for you really come to tell you to leave her daughter alone?'' The boy asked with curiosity that he could not hide.
''What daughter? Who said that?'' Jason tried to remember a rich man he disturbed.
''Old Zack said. He also said you were stupid for attracting the attention of such a person.'' Jason took the belt holster from his shoulder and put it neatly around his waist. Old Zack was an ex thug and, like any ex thug, he knew how to judge people.
''Did the man say why he was waiting for me?'' Jason asked as they entered the decrepit garden.
''No, Old Zack let him wait in front of your office.''
''Okay. Nedim, take Monster in and dry it.'' He said when they reached the backyard door of Zack's mansion.
The boy pursed his lips, ''But I want to stay with you!''
''But Ned, who will take care of Monster if you stay with me? If the carpets get wet Zack will kick her out of the house, you know.'' Jason led Monster towards Ned.
''Okay! But do not forget that you owe me for that.'' Jason looked at the serious face of the boy and nodded.
After making sure Monster and Ned inside, he walked around the building to confront the mysterious rich man. The garden was full of weeds and ivy for being neglected. The thorny vines that once bloomed beautiful roses had become an impassable wall separating the mansion from its neighbors. The three meter rose wall, built when the neighborhood was not yet in a completely hopeless situation, was now just thorns.
He turned the corner and saw the man. His expensive suit was navy blue, fitting snugly to his shoulders. As the amber ring glowed on his finger, the man was leaning on his dragon carved cane with both hands and covering his face with a fedora. Of course, Ned couldn't tell the expensive fabric suit from the gunny sack. However since the day he was born, they taught the boy the ones he had to get out of their way with kicks.
The white haired man straightened his fedora and turned his tanned face to Jason. Jason looked at the man as his eyes and brain fought to make sense of the scene before him. Rajid? How?
Rajid gave a gentle nod, ''I was about to worry that I wouldn't be able to find you. The little show at last night was enough to scare away a lot of people.''
Jason's mind envisioned a mixture of lion and man leaning over him. He gulped, ''I am a hunter,'' He didn't need to admit his fear, was he? ''May I ask why are you here?'' Being kind wouldn't hurt anyone. Rajid had not tried to injure him, he actually has helped when the semi lion attacked him.
''You said that we can talk about what we want if we get an appointment from your office. I tried to get an appointment, however no one answered the call. I hope you can spare time for me.''
Jason sighed, ''I guess I said that. Now it would be too rude to refuse you.'' He took the key from his pocket and opened the door to his office.
