I don't know how long Lukas ran, all I knew was that he was going so fast that I could only see after-images of the trees we passed by. I stopped looking soon afterward because I felt like I was going to get sick, and I didn't want to risk that lest I start puking all over Lukas, and we certainly don't want that to happen. So I just closed my eyes and clung to him like a--- like a what? An infant? A koala?
When we finally stopped, he didn't look like he was tired at all. Not even a drop of sweat in sight. He put me down, a little unsteady on my feet, and I stood there, gawking at a huge gate. One that I found too familiar.
My brows knotted in question. "... Isn't this the Von Brandt mansion?"
"Correct," Lukas affirmed.
