(Hanna's POV)
We're all blown back by the the flames spreading through the house. The great energy bursts through the windows of the house and knocks us off balance. My ears are ringing from the loud explosion of energy.
"Hanna," I hear my mate screaming my name as my ears stop ringing.
I open my eyes to complete chaos. There's fire everywhere and its spreading fast.
"You guys have to help. I can't control everything. You have to help the civilians in the town," Anne barks out orders.
I can see her focusing on trying to stop the flames of the pack house, but the fire is quickly spreading to the adjacent town.
I'm knocked out of my trance as Jaisley helps me off the ground and starts running in the opposite direction towards the town.
My heart is beating fast and I can't catch my breath. I can see Chris running towards a house in the distance trying to evacuate a family as fast as she can.
I watch as one by one, houses are caught on fire.
"Hanna snap out of it. We need your help," Jaisley says holding my head between her hands. her eyes pierce into mines but my mind only registers the flames behind her.
"I-I can't," I say, tears starting to prick the sides of my eyes. Goodness, I'm so weak and useless.
She looks behind her as another house catches on fire.
"MJ stay here with Hanna. I have to go help." I try to stop Jaisley from running towards the burning house, but she's gone quickly as she vamps off.
I can feel the fire that surrounds her on my skin and her struggle to breathe through the thick smoke.
She's out of the house within seconds with a women on her back and a child in her hands.
I look around seeing fires being put out by Anne and Chris, and the people of the town trying to put out the fire with water but failing. I'm sure the fire can only be put out with magic since Sybil made the fire with magic.
MJ runs off the talk to some of the civilians on the side watching in horror as their town gets eaten by flames.
A pain sparks in my leg and I look around realizing I haven't seen Jaisley race out of one of the houses in a while.
"Jaisley," I yell out, looking for her. I start to panic more as if I haven't been panicking this whole time.
I should've went with her to help her, but I coward away after promising that I wouldn't be useless in missions like this anymore. I didn't want to be a burden but here I am watching from the sidelines.
Another pain sparks my arm and I see a bruise start to form.
I have to find her. There's no time for being a coward when she's getting hurt.
I transform into my wolf form and race off to find her in some of the houses in the small town.
As I go house to house I don't find her but I rescue some other people I come across. I howl out, calling out to her. It's hard to find her scent of cherry blossoms with all these flames surronding me.
"Hanna," I hear my mate call out and I run as fast as I can to find her. She's under a mass of burning wood and I pounce into action.
This is why I feared her running into the fire. I know she has a tendency to be a daredevil and she tries to seem invincible, but the only thing that can kill her is fire.
It's harder for vampires to regenerate after being burnt by fire, but still, Jaisley risked her life to help the wolves in this town.
That's why I admire her. I wish I had her bravery to go pass my cowardness and save people at the first sign of trouble.
But I'm not. I'm selfish and only help when my Jaisley is in trouble.
I drag the mass of weight off of her and help her out of the burning house. It's the last house on fire and Anne runs up to put it out. She doesn't say a spell. She just focuses her gaze on it and puts it out as if it's a candle on a birthday cake.
I cuddle against my Jaisley as she tries to catch her breath but I know that this mission has taken a lot out of her.
"Everyone ok," Anne asks, looking around at us and the group of civilians from the town. I whine out to get attention to Jaisley who's still laid out on the floor. Her heart is beating slow.... A little too slow.
"We can get her some help," I turn to see the Luna and her family standing safe and sound. Anne got to them on time. "It's the least we can do after all of you helped save our pack."
I pick up Jaisley onto my back and carry her back to the house of the royal family.
Once we're inside they lay her on a bed and one of the pack medics start helping her.
"We have some extra clothes you can change into," the daughter of the royal family tells me and she leaves it in a room to give me some privacy.
After I'm changed, I sat down next to my Jaisley and run my hand through her blonde hair.
I know she'll be ok. She just needs some rest.
I could've done more. It's my fault she's hurt.
"Stop it, Hanna. I can feel the guilt running through your head. It's giving me a headache," Jaisley mutters out.
"I'm sorry," I whisper to her.
"You don't need to be sorry," she tells me, her gaze burning into me. "You saved me."
I breathe out a heavy sigh, disagreeing with her.
"Just get some rest," I tell her.
"Everyone should be here soon. I know they're worried since our connection was cut off during the fire," Anne informs me.
"And when they get here, we'd like to hear why exactly you were here and listening in on our meeting," the stern Alpha says looking at us with curiosity.
