(Alaric's POV)
"Greetings, Lykos." I smile down at Emily and she brings me in for a hug. "Its been a while since I've seen you."
"Yeah. I didn't really see the point in attending classes with all of this happening. Thank you for coming when I called."
"Of course," she says with her smile growing.
"Ok, I think that's enough," Anne interrupts us with a harsh tone of voice. I turn to see her purple eyes piercing into Emily. "I think it'd be great if you introduced us to this stranger in my house."
I silently chuckle at the clear jealousy on Anne's face.
"I don't think you should be doing this," I hear Apollo, my wolf, warn me.
"I think this was a good idea. She wants me to stay away from her. Fine. Then I'll make her regret it," I answer him back in my head.
"You idiot." After his statement I block him out.
"Everyone, this is Emily Barry. We've known each other for a very long time. Her family has had connections with the supernatural world for centuries and they're very powerful. Emily has many connections within the business, modeling, and supernatural world. Emily says she can help us out with finding Sybil and I think she'll be very useful."
"That's quite a lovely introduction," Hanna says, looking at me suspiciously.
"I don't think we needed her whole resume, Alaric," Cassandra says. It seems that all the girls are beginning to gang up against me, helping out Anne.
"Be nice, everyone. I bet Emily is great person," Anne says clearly with hostility. Greg looks back and forth between the both of us.
"I'm not getting involved," he says and walks off. Anne walks off as well, trailed by Chris, Jaisley, Hanna, Kora, and Cassandra.
"What the hell do you think you're doing," Don and Emily ask me at the same time.
"What do you mean?"
"Alaric, this is the first time I'm meeting Anne and I thought it would go better than this. You're ruining our friendship before it even starts. I wanted to bond with her and make stupid jokes about you behind your back," Emily rambles out.
"Everyone can clearly see what you're doing Alaric. Why are you trying to make her jealous," Don asks.
"That's definitely not what I'm doing. I called Emily for her help."
"Is that really why I'm here because it doesn't feel like it. Anne looks like she wants to kill me. I might be powerful, but lets not forget I'm human," Emily says, scolding me.
I breathe out a frustrated sigh.
"Fine. I'm making her jealous because she told me to back off. It's really difficult having to fight the mate bond," I admit.
"You're an idiot. You think making her jealous is going to make her want you closer," Don asks, making me feel stupid.
"I'm not playing along with you, Alaric," Emily says and I know she's serious because she uses my real name instead of my nickname.
"Okay."
"Let's go do what you came here for," Don says to Emily and we all head to where everyone else is. They're seated in the living room and there's only a few seats left. Emily makes sure to sit far away from me.
"So, Emily. What's your plan," Kora asks.
"Well, I brought this." Emily takes out an ornament type of object and holds it out in front of her for us to see.
"What does it do," Hanna asks.
Emily untwists the ball in half and the inside is hollow.
"We need something that belongs to her. Blood, hair, a shoe, anything." Everyone looks disappointed when Emily says that.
"I'm afraid we don't have anything that belongs to Sybil," Anne informs her.
An awkward shift comes from Chris. It's so out of place that it catches everyone's attention. With all eyes on Chris, her cheeks grow red.
"Actually, I do have something of Sybil's," she says quietly. She slips away for a few seconds and comes back with a knife in her hand.
The knife looks sharp and incrusted with diamonds. It's also covered in dry blood. I can smell four different scents coming off of the knife. Don, Chris, Petra, and I'm guessing the last one is Sybil's scent.
"Is that-" Greg's voice trails off, but we all know what he wants to say.
"The knife that brought my mother back to life and ended it all over again? Yes," Chris answers.
"Why'd you keep that," Don asks her. Chris face floods with guilt and she tries to hide her face.
"We can do the spell now, so good thing you kept it," Anne says, trying to make her feel better.
Emily takes the knife from Chris and places it inside the ornament. She seals it up and places it on the ground.
"What now," I ask.
"We just wait."
We all stand, waiting for the ball to do something. A minute passes and nothing happens. I look up at Emily and see her eyebrows scrunched up.
"I don't know what's wrong with it. It should have started rolling by now," Emily says. She bends down to pick up the ornament. She opens it up to see the knife still inside.
"It didn't work," I say in disbelief.
"No shit," Jaisley says sarcastically.
"Tell me more about Sybil. Maybe I can find something else we can do," Emily suggests.
"We know she's a very powerful witch from Berlin that has a lot of control all over the world. She's power hungry," Anne says.
"She's manipulative," Don says.
"She loves getting into peoples heads and using the things they love against them," Chris adds on.
"I'm guessing you were one of her victims," Emily says to Chris. Chris nods her head. "It means you still have a connection directly to her."
"What are you suggesting," Kora asks, peaking in interest.
"I'm saying we use the link from Chris to find Sybil. It would take us right to her." Emily perks up a little, gaining back hope.
"How would we do that," Chris asks, a little hesitant about the plan.
"I'll call up my cousin and he'll explain everything. He's more of an expert on this."
