Marcus was born a hunter, and the son of the village leader. He learned how to fight and kill monsters at an early age. When he was seven his father captured a vampire, the plan was to interrogate the vampire to find out where it's clan was. Everyone knows that vampires live in groups.

Marcus was a curious child and wanted to see the captured vampire. He found himself bound to the vampire and taken far away from the village and his family. The first rule of all supernatural creatures is 'do not steal or harm that which belongs to another.' The second rule? The rule of reparation; 'a life for a life.' "Your father killed my servant and reparation must be paid. You will replace the life that was taken."

A hunters child finds himself thrust into the world of supernatural creatures. It is a world where he will ultimately thrive in and be reborn as Derrick, the vampire prince.

The story of Derrick is set in a high fantasy world were the king of vampires rules all of the supernatural creatures. Human's and their super powered relatives hunters are constantly at odds with the supernatural creatures.
