Wain reappeared in his guest room in the Royal Palace, his body trembling. As soon as he landed, he coughed up a mouthful of blood, staining the floor.
"Did I overdo it this time?" he muttered, wiping his lips. His body was only at the 4th grade, after all. Forcing a 6th grade spell was reckless, even if he had the necessary mana control and Shadow's assistance.
He didn't care much about his own state, but Shadow needed to be in peak condition for the tournament. Wain couldn't rely on Kadenn's strength alone to secure victory.
Sitting cross-legged on the cold floor, he took out one of the 5th grade mana cores he just acquired, slowly healing his and Shadow's injuries.
But then something unexpected happened.
He felt an intense pull, like a vortex inside him, draining the surrounding mana at a rapid pace.
"A breakthrough?" he murmured, confused.
