Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten

The evening of that very day, I started thinking if this girl will call for real. I kept imagining how beautiful she was. I mean, she has the perfect look of an angel. She is the gold that was lost in the rivers of Babylon and now found. I mean, she is the queen in the highland of pretties. If she is likened to a bird, I will call her a dove for she symbolizes a good thing and if she is a flower, I would call her a rose, because her beauty overshadow others that may be.

"Will she ever call? I wish she called." It wasn't up to 30min when my phone rang and thank God it was her. We talked for a quality while. She told me her name was Deborah. The whole scenario was just like that Davido song "aye" only that na me want her love not her. I knew for a fact that this girl doesn't love me yet. Of course, she only just met me and if she claims to love me I will even gun her down myself.

However, it is written all over her that she likes me and I think the reason was that I was in my final year and she was just in 200level.

Perhaps, she admired the seniority and thought I could easily offer her guidance in her academic pursuit. Maybe it was love or respect that she had for me, it was hard to tell but who cares anyway? Judging from the experience of other people, most ladies find it difficult to know the difference.

Ones a lady respect a guy, she might confuse it with love and if such a lady is asked out by this guy, she may easily accept. And this was the strategy I was going to play out with Deborah and I know 100% certain that she will date me, not only date, fall in love with me.

While I have been making frequent contact with Deborah and we had gotten along so well, I wanted to know if Deborah was not everybody's girl. I mean, I wanted to verify if my heart was safe with Deborah. As in, I wanted to know if she is not a shakushaku girl. So, I asked my friend Japheth to ask her out. I don't know while my heart be started beating like drumset wey want almost tear. But chai, I wan die! Deborah made me proud by turning down Japheth's request.

I set her up again with Tolu. I mean, it could be that Japheth looks like a maggot to her na. she turned down Tolu's request again. This is making me very happy like driver wey increase t-fare money and still got full passenger for car. Kikiki... I set her up again, as in, I needed to be sure na. She proved herself right again that she was decent. Maybe I have just gotten myself into a serious relationship.

After few weeks, I asked Deborah out and it was a yes. I could go on and on about all the events that occurred after this but that will be a different episode in another story. What you should know however is today I am a graduate of Adekunle Ajasin University, the department of History and International studies, married with Deborah, a research assistant and specialist in the national assembly and also a writer.
