In all honesty, unlike the others, Josh seemed miserable. It was never my intention to make him feel less than. Turning him was for the better. He needed to let go of the past and accept who he now was. The only way to do that was to also accept his mate. Being with Courtney in a confined place would help. Besides, it was torture not being near their mate in an unfamiliar place. I was doing him a favor.
"So, what's up?" Jake asked. "We thought you abandoned us."
I smiled when the others looked away in guilt. Their doubt was to be expected. I did kill them all and then left. Any creature would have felt abandoned. However, it was quite the opposite on my end. To say I was relieved they were alive was an understatement. Though I loved every second of the experiment, it didn't mean they weren't important to me. Especially Josh.
