All my friends continued enjoying themselves until Colin finished cooking. Servings were made and they planted themselves on the stools around the island. They were going to settle there until Jake noticed me. No one said anything but all eyes turned in my direction.
I cringed, anticipating the comments and questions. Still, nothing happened. They pretended I was not even here. If it was not for the fact that Brian brought me a plate of food and placed it on the table in front of me, I would have thought this was not real, or they could not see me.
The men carried on with their conversations. Not bothering with the stools, they came out on the balcony and sat with me. With themselves, actually. No one seemed to care that I was there.
One glance at my plate and my limbs went numb. I was not hungry. Nor was I in any mood to move. Regardless, the food appeared appeasing.
"Did you get any updates about Josh?" Jake asked Colin.
