(Loving someone and longing for their love is a chain that we put on ourselves. The tears you shed, the pain you felt. All the hate you have directed towards yourself. Is it worth it? Loving them is like dancing without music, with nothing to hold it together. I am fighting with my demons and hoping you will win your fight against yours. Truly Dare)
"Mother!" A tiny voice shouts, beckoning for the attention of a woman walking away from it. The woman turns and scorns at the child.
"What?" She asks in an irritated voice.
"You....you promised to play with me.."
"Is that why you are stopping me. Don't you have classes to attend?"
"But.."
"If only you were blessed with half the wits of your brother. You are completely useless. At you age Christopher was well versed with biology and the basics of chemistry. "
The boy presses his nails on his palms to avoid crying. He could not understand why everything he did was not enough.
"You are a disappointment of a Pride. I wish you would have just died instead of Helen. She at least had the brains. Go back to your room and read."The spiteful tone of the woman sent a shiver of fear in the boy causing him to growl at her.
"Don't show me your teeth you ungrateful bastard!" She shouted at the child. striking him across the face. He falls down five metres from where he was. Pain seething through his body.
"Get up. You can't even handle such a light touch." She orders. The boy was however unable to get up and his mother angrily walks away from him. There he was left with nothing but pain and sadness. On the cold hard floor he lay crying. The five year old child wept.
Helix woke up sweating profusely. His body shook violently as tears streamed down his face. His eyes glowing red. As pain swept across his body. It took him a while before he could get his body back under his control.
"She is dead. She is dead." He kept on muttering to himself. She was dead. He had seen here dead body. Her blood on him. She was killed in front of him.
"Survive...."Where her last words to him. She smiled as she died with him in her arms.
Her face scared him. Seventeen years later and he still can not forget her. She died but her green eyes haunted him.
Helix got up and got into the washroom. He soaked his whole head in cold water to calm his nerves. He looked up into the mirror. Where is reflection looked back at him. A pair of black shaken eyes starred back at him. His right hand moved up slowly and wiped the the already clean mirror.
He quickly popped three pills of Ativan in his mouth. The slowly began to take action, calming his anxiety. His body slowly stopped shaking and the nausea with it. The small bottle of Ativan was almost completely gone. Mostly due to his addiction. His heavy reliance on the drug left him vulnerable.
With unhealthy copping mechanism which lead him to three addictions in counting. It was not a surprise that his mental health was slowly crumbling. Everything that was keeping him sane slowly disappeared. He doubted if he could continue with such a pace. He was dying inside. He needed help.
"Pride's are never weak!" The memory of his mother's harsh tone woke him up from his trance. It was only a memory but it was enough. 'I need to take Jacob shopping'.
****
Jacob had gotten up early. Mostly due to Elaine. She woke him up early so that he could prepare to go shopping with Helix. By eight he was out of the door and there was Helix, standing majestically against the Land rover. A simple white shirt tucked into a pair of black trousers. Yet he locked effortlessly good.
"Ready to go?"Helix asked smiling gently at the boy. It made Jacob's heart skip a bit. Reminding him how gay he was. But at the same time reminding him the Helix was his adoptive father.
He nods then enters the passenger seat. Helix follows and enters the drivers seat. Reaches out and buckles Jacob's seat belt for him.
"It would be annoying if we get pulled over by the police."
"Cops?"
"Yes, I tend to have the bad habit of calling the cops the police."
Silence then again fills the car. Jacob looks out of the car window. He lets the view calm him down. It did't take that long for them to come into town.
*******
Clerk glanced at Chris who was completely ignoring him. Not even acknowledging his presence.
This continued until Chris finally broke the ice.
"I will leave you in charge of Jacob's education. Chris knew what he was doing. It wasn't that he was setting bait or anything like that. He wanted them to get rid of each other. He doubted if either of the two betas was actually useful.
