Layla fidgeted as she looked into Zane's eyes. His gaze was filled with warmth, but there was also a harsh cold to them. Zane's eyes explained what kind of person he now was. He was a person who was willing to make sacrifices to make the world become a better place— even if those sacrifices were innocent lives.
"Layla?" Called Zane, taking notice of her silence.
"Oh, sorry... Is something the matter?"
"Not really... You just seemed distant is all."
"Yeah, my bad! I was just thinking about how the Anunnaki might treat these people, once they enslave them..." Lied Layla.
Zane squinched his eyes as he looked at her. He knew something was off with Layla, but he decided not to press the topic.
"Yo! We're all done with the evacuation!" Suddenly interrupted Lamar. His face was baked with sweat from the hard work he had been putting in.
"Great then... Sorry, Layla and I couldn't be of any help," apologized Zane.
