Chapter 12 - Death City: The first hunt

Judging by the fact that the creature was deliberately running toward me before it even noticed me, the noise of the shots should have given me away. I wouldn't want to meet several of them at once.

Between the common sense and greed, the second took over, and I spent my time taking everything out of this giant monster, I didn't selflessly get out of here, as I should have done.

To my delight, the body of this monster was indeed made of several dozen ordinary undead, which meant that there was a lot of money inside its body. At least one and a half thousand dollars in the list of items that I could take from it was displayed before me. But, apart from that and the soul Core of an E-rank boss, there was nothing worthwhile displayed. It's a pity, I wouldn't mind if this monster gave me some kind of weapon or a good healing potion.

I moved on, but this time I didn't run like crazy. I was really worried because of the dungeon Boss. If I was correct and it had sensory abilities, then my chances of survival are non-existent, so I would act as if everything was very bad, but I still had a chance. Which is, by the way, not very likely to be true. I've never had to fight a D-rank boss alone before.

Along the way, I met a couple of undead, and they got extra pieces of iron in their heads – though not for long, because I always collect what was my own. I came to a more or less suitable place for the role of temporary shelter after another half hour and three dozen walking dead were killed.

But after killing so many undead people, I still haven't levelled up. And I didn't look at the status to see how much exactly experience I need.

My shelter was not chosen by chance. And yes, it was a shop again, but this time a much bigger one, a large supermarket. And even the fact that there were more undead inside didn't stop me.

There were twelve of them. Ten undead, and two Warriors of Death. The supermarket was humongous, and therefore I was not immediately noticed by all of them. At first there were only two undead, who quickly fell to the death of the brave. Then another. Then the skeleton noticed me, and I had to use a shotgun on it.

There was no time for distractions. The shot drew the attention of all the monsters inside to me. And if the slow undead didn't bother me much, the skeleton might cause me some troubles. True, I ended them quickly as well. Whatever you might say, E-rankers are still weak against firearms.

After killing two elite opponents, ordinary undead I killed with kitchen knives from the inventory. Not that zombies are not dangerous – one bite from such a bastard, you cannot hope to live without a healer or an appropriate potion. And they take you on with the quantity rather than quality.

But all of this can be postponed for a little. Everything can go to hell again, and to prevent this from happening, I need to prepare as quickly as possible. I quickly ran through the entire supermarket, scooped up everything of any value in the inventory, and also took all the money from the cash register.

There was a lot of money here. If you put it all together, it turned out to be fifty thousand dollars, which I immediately exchanged in the store.

Immediately after that, I started selling what I had in my inventory. Even some things from the real world that I didn't need were sold as well. The only thing that I left in the inventory besides the weapons that I still need for the dungeon, there is only one copy of the computer for which I was late for the discount. I confess, I couldn't resist it.

In short, it turned out to be a tidy sum of ten million rubles in my inventory. To achieve such an even sum, I even had to sell some of the obtained soul Cores, but the number is beautiful, Yes.

God, where am I going?

Originally, I wanted to buy a Regeneration Potion that would allow my arm to grow back. But it was a pity to throw money at it – if I come back, everything will be returned to me in its place. The problem was that I needed the limb, or I wouldn't live to see it back.

In short, it all came down to the fact that I did buy a potion. My hopes to acquire a skill that would allow me to make a temporary prosthesis were not fulfilled – there was a separate currency for buying skills, called "skill points".

After spending five hundred thousand on a potion to restore my hand, I started shopping for other important items.

Unfortunately, there was not enough money, and I had to collect all the garbage from the supermarket to sell it in the store.

I already had a plan of action. Or rather ways to kill every monster on the kill list. Even the Servant of Death was not an exception. However, these ways were not that good, and each was more stupid and dangerous than the previous one. But there was nothing I could do – an E-rank adventurer cannot kill dungeon bosses by himself, let alone those who are stronger.

When I was done with the preparation, I started working on the levels. Sitting down for the last time, because I won't be able to rest for a while now, I called up the status.

A wide grin spread across my face. Here it is, what I desperately needed for a happy life. But we need to make sure to finally remove the doubts. And to understand exactly how much stronger I have become.

What is the most convenient way to understand the changes? To begin with, I decided to jump on an empty rack from where I had already stolen everything. It was not so easy to force myself to do it - my mind knew that I could, but my body, unaccustomed to such jumps, was very afraid.

But I wouldn't be myself if I couldn't make myself to do it.

There was a loud sound of falling, and I clutched my knee, which had been rubbed raw.

"Damn you…"- Here was supposed to be some heavy swearing, but we censored it! I whimpered through my watery eyes. I agree that a gentleman should not be swearing, but I couldn't care less at the moment. - "I can't express what kind of words someone would deem fitting for such an increase in power." - I began to stroke the bumped leg, the skin of which I tore off with a stupid idea. - "But that's for later – f*ck the pain. Where is my gained power, system?!"

I wish I had a window in front of me where everything is explained, but wouldn't that make my life easier? And as is well known fact – Viktor Gromov cannot live an easy life.

I had to dig into the settings.

I spent about five minutes trying to figure out what exactly was wrong with the performance boost, and finally came across the right description. - "To avoid injury, a dramatic increase in the characteristics of the game avatar occurs over time, and not instantly." – The emotions I had for these lines caused were not straightforward, especially considering that this explanation was shoved into the completely unsuitable for explaining the mechanics of levelling the character up section. Whatever it was, it means that I should not hope for power increase anytime soon.

"There are no words left to say, only epithets. And those are the obscene ones." - I sighed. – "What about the free points?" - Can I use it too? It is unlikely that I will get out of here in the next week, maybe the characteristics will have time to rise…

It seemed logical, but I wanted to wait until the mana would appear, so that I could calmly proceed with the plan, without rushing anywhere.

"Baryah!" - there was the sharp sound of a wall breaking.

A familiar type of monster walked through the wall like a fog.

"Hey! What about saying Hello first?" - I said indignantly. This huge machine took a step in my direction. Two more steps and there's no distance between us. - "What a rude thing you are! You didn't even ask if could enter here."

As it takes its second giant step, I reach into my inventory and pull out a bottle with very dangerous contents and a rag. With my other hand, I took the lighter out of my pocket – it's not like I should keep everything in my inventory - and then lit a rag.

"Take a bite – this is the taste of revolution!" — with a shout like that, I threw a Molotov Cocktail right into the face of the bastard when it was only one step away from me. – "Burn-burn clearly, so that it does not extinguish out!"

It flared up brightly, and the whole head of the monster and part of the torso was on fire.

"ORYAHOO!" - the creature roared very loudly, beginning to swing its arms and legs, and beat back and forth in convulsions of pain. – "ARGYA!"

I quietly began to move away. Such a huge guy could crush me in this fit, and I'd better not get in its way. And, well, I wouldn't want to be buried under the ruins. I ran outside and waited for the level-up alert.

It was a couple of minutes before it happened.

I smiled. I grinned. I laughed.

"Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha! Here I am! Meet me, world! New MC of everything and anything! The man who will become the king of H*kage!" - I shouted at the top of my voice. The answer was the sound of breaking walls and loud footsteps somewhere not too far away. — "Now let's get out of here quietly, before those Herods get me."
