Chereads / The Paranormal system! / Chapter 2 - Halloween

Chapter 2 - Halloween

Some days later.

On the day of Halloween.

"It is a notification from my parents' phone," I reported. Rena swallowed hard. I wonder what we will have to do.

"Open it, Liam." Rena was calm. Her voice was a little bit louder than before.

I put my mobile in my pocket on the right side. I put my left hand in the left pocket to take out the mobile. The metal cover of that white and red mobile was very damn cold.

"I will open the notification now," I announced. Rena hummed.

I took the mobile in my right hand, swiped up the screen, searched for the notification box. I clicked on the notification box after spotting it.

The notification opened. Rena made her way to peep in the mobile to see the notification, but I didn't let her do it this time.

I moved the mobile to the right side because I didn't want Rena to look at it again.

Rena looked at me as soon as the mobile was swiped away. I glanced at her.

She threw her hands on her waist and her cheeks full of air making a cheek balloon. I grinned at her.

'If you want to find your parents then you must solve these quests. Tell us if you are interested or not. If yes then please click on the green button.'

A green button appeared on the screen.

'If no then please burn/throw/destroy this mobile anyhow.'

"Eh? Destroy? Is it nuts or what?" Rena complained as I read her the whole notification. I looked at her.

"What to do Ms. CEO?" I sassed at her deliberately.

"Take it seriously will you?" That made the grin on my face disappear. I dropped my head down and stared at the floor.

"I am serious Rena. But the thing is..." I began.

"The thing is?" Rena asked me.

"The thing is that I am just too scared to look at this normally. I am too scared to find the truth I am too scared to admit and take this notification seriously." My reply shook Rena.

A doleful expression pulled over Rena's face.

"I am just too scared that if I talk about this normally then there is no telling if I will even be able to do it or not that is the reason I am kidding around," I confessed my feelings.

"Hm~ Now now." Rena hummed and was patting my back very hard. Like she was hitting me! But for what?

"What are you doing?" My words wobbled out of my mouth.

"Let us just look at the screen of that mobile, shall we?" Rena suggested. She stopped slapping my back. I was moving forward, losing my balance because of her back pats.

I nodded. "Then what shall I do? Accept it?"

"Accept it unless you don't want your parents." What the hell.

"I want my parents. I am gonna press this green button," I said nagging at Rena. My fingers moved to the green button that appeared on the mobile's screen.

Just after I pressed the green button a bright light came out from the mobile's screen.

"What is this? It is very bright, it may even blind us." Rena commented. I only heard her voice behind the bright light. The light went spreading and spreading until it covered the whole attic.

I screamed but it didn't make it out of my throat. I heard Rena's scream.

The light abruptly went off. I blinked my eyes a few times for adjusting them back to the darkness of the attic.

"Ow~ my eyes hurt like hell," Rena commented, covering her eyes and walking towards me. But when did she and I go so far apart from each other?

"What was that light?" Rena asked.

"How should I know?" I answered weakly. Whatever that was I can only tell that the light was harmful.

"Hey hey! What does the mobile say?" I forgot about the mobile because of the bright light.

I gazed down at the mobile screen. "Any notification?" Rena asked. I focused more on the screen.

"Nope, you got it wrong there is nothing other than a light blue wallpaper on the mobile," I reported.

"That is okay but why am I wrong?" Rena asked, avoiding my gaze.

"I never said you were, did I? Big sister?" I emphasized. Just to pull her leg.

"EW~" Rena made a motion like a snake does, with her hands near her chest and her eyes tightly closed. "Don't call me a big sister! It gives me chills!" I giggled.

This is the reason I always call her Rena instead of big sister. She always says that she gets chills.

"Ha-aha." I laughed sarcastically.

We both burst out laughing. Rena and I were laughing our heads off. That was a cool way to call her nee-san.

"So sister what to do now?" I asked her with a grin on my face.

"First let us go down and second you should text Ava back before she starts disliking you."

"I-it is not like I live for all the girls to like me." I started moving my head up with my eyes closed.

"Yeah sure. You should say that not a single girl likes you." That hurts.

"That hurts you fool, sister." I lamented.

Without saying anything Rena started making her way out of the attic. I am not gonna stay here in this dark attic, I followed Rena out of the attic and then out of the room.

"Hey what are we going to do for today's Halloween?" I asked Rena as we were still climbing down the stairs. Rena was leading me.

"I am not going out. I will stay and complete my work at the office." Rena never goes out to any festivals.

Most of the students in her high school know that she is the CEO of the top company. Rumors don't take long to spread. Also because of her status and her good looks, almost all the boys drool over her.

Rena is only this dumb and clumsy in the home when she is in school or company; she is just another good-looking girl who is filled with too much pride and attitude.

"You can go out with Ava if you want. I will just make myself at home," Rena announced.

"Okay fine we will not decorate our house; I will go enjoy my Halloween." I also declared.

We reached the ground floor. "This is where we part ways Liam, see ya." Rena turned about 180 degrees. I nodded my head and then we parted our ways.

I went to the basement. Rena went to the office, home office.

"Now let's see what I can do?" I questioned myself. I put on the lights of the basement.

No not the basement. The basement is not like the other storage room. The basement is the only place where it is filled.

The basement with literally everything. If I go on telling each and everything then it might even take the whole day. So to conclude out. We have sports equipment which we play on weekends in our backyard or the main city park.

Then the basement has some clothes for Halloween, the reason I came here. Then there are other things which are not of any use.

"Come out here." I moved my hand to a light-dark Dracula dress. It was a costume I am using for 2 years now. This will be the 3rd year.

I sighed. It is not like I go to everyone's house to scare them. I just want to collect candies and then eat them while I watch anime.

I also have to share it with Ms. CEO as she doesn't get her ass out of the house. What trouble. So I selected the Dracula costume for tonight's Halloween.

I clicked the lights off of the basement and then I was just moving out of the basement when a...

*Beep Beep*

Notification came. I was frozen at the site. Not able to move a single muscle. Is this the mobile notification? The attic mobile? The mobile that I recovered from the attic?

My one hand was holding the Dracula costume and the other was moving on its own to the left pocket.

It went into the pocket and touched the mobile. The mobile was cold as ice. The mobile came out. My left hand was shaking as the mobile came out and fit in my hands.

I am not a left-handed boy so it is the reason I can't handle it with my left hand but at least I could open up the screen. The same blue sea wallpaper. I unlocked the locked screen.

My heartbeats were increasing at a high speed. This was very thrilling. I swiped open the screen and was happy to see that there was no notification.

I left a sigh of relief. "Let us go to my room. If it is not the notification of this mobile then it must be my mobile."

I walked upstairs to my room and opened the door with my left hand. I threw the costume of Dracula on the chair and then threw myself on the soft bed.

The mattress's spring made a clinging noise as I jumped in my bed.

Now, what do I have on my mobile? I made the effort of moving my hands and taking out the mobile, my mobile.

"What? It is just a mail." I groaned, opening my mobile's lock screen, "It is just a mail from... From Ava?" My body shook. I panicked and then alerted myself.

I forgot to reply to her! Shit!
