Chapter 50 - Secrets Kept

Sara leaned back in her office chair, looking at the clock. It was almost time to head over to the company Christmas party. However that's not what gave her the long face. Tomorrow was her birthday also not a word had been heard from Sean since he left her in London. As she finally logged off her computer, a group of men in suits suddenly barged into her office. The group gave of a huge lawyer vibe. Leading the group was none other than Mauricio "Tadpole" Cazarez. Before Sara hadn't connected the dots but now she realized that Mauricio was actually the Cazarez behind Cazarez, Hines and Greene Law Firm, the formidable law firm that either won or got their clients really soft sentences. It was rumored that one of thier clients had only gotten community service and a fine for tax evasion. Sara looked at Mauricio with a raised eyebrow before coldly asking, "Can I ask what you are doing here?" Mauricio shivered slightly as he barely could recognize the woman infront of him, while thinking to himself 'no wonder why Sean chose her. She's practically from the same mold, cold and distance when business is involved.'

Finally Mauricio spoke, "we have a couple of documents here that require your signature Madam. These have nothing to do with Dearborn, as you know has its own in house legal team. This is about your agreement with Sean." He then opened his briefcase to pull out a large stack of documents. Sara looked at the top document realizing that it was the deed to the house in Arlington Heights. Puzzled she looked at Mauricio as he put on a mysterious smile and saying, "He has instructed us to hand some property over to you from his personal holdings." Sara nodded looking at the stack of documents before another one of the lawyers added to the stack with even more papers. She glanced at Mauricio before questioning, "I thought you said a couple?" This caused Mauricio to chuckle slightly as he responded, "243 to be exact but I didn't want to scare you." Sara nodded before she began to sign the appropriate lines in the documents.

She rushed through it so quickly that she didn't even realize that one of the files was for the transfer of 40% of total Dearborn shares making her the largest shareholder now. Shrinking Sean's ownership to 28% and the other 32% to the other shareholders. Had she known what an immense headache this would later cause her she wouldn't have signed it.

After signing all of the documents one of the men cleared them away before Mauricio handed her a final document and instructed all of the men to leave the office. Sara looked at the document to realize what it said: Property Transfer of Loch Dìohmor Development

The blue eyes widened in shock as she realized what this paper really meant. Sean had actually put his words in action. Giving her the land of her oasis and curbing his future development of it. She began to think back to the day that they spent at the lake together. As the blue eyes became misty, the sound of a phone ringing snapped Sara out of her daze. She answered the phone to realize that is was just Frank informing her they were ready downstairs. After signing the document and handing it to Mauricio she began to gather her things, not noticing Mauricio was still sitting there.

His slight cough made her realize that he was still there. The solemn expression on his face made Sara puzzled but he quickly spoke, "we have reached out to your father on your behalf, for the shares left to you by your mother. He has the document ready but has stated he will only sign it after you have a talk with him. He says that it's important and about your mother." An unknown emotion flashed in Sara's eyes before she nodded and led Mauricio out of the office.

As she walked out a notification dinged on her phone. Opening the notification, joy appeared in her eyes as she read it: LOVERS HOUR BREAKS ALL EXPECTATIONS AT AUCTION. SELLS TO MYSTERIOUS BIDDER FOR RECORD BREAKING 350 MILLION EUROS.

The custom matching his and hers watches with rubies, garnets and red diamonds attracts the largest bidding war seen in modern times, as famed collector and jewelry maker Tobias Mateschitz, famous jewler Hans Matthis, and billionaire Josue Ramirez lose out to the mysterious bidder in Box 18 for the famed pieces from mysterious jeweler Ibis. The final bid of 350 million silenced the auction room and making the piece the most expensive jewelry piece sold at auction. Closing her phone a smirk appeared on her face as the elevator closed.

Two days earlier

An old man walked into the auction house: Orange Corona Auctions. The famed auction house had attract many rich people today for the extremely rare items available today. However a lot of people also came to see the newest piece from the mysterious Ibis. The jeweler had only released four pieces prior to today but each of them had been pieces of artwork, while also claiming sky high prices at auction. Each piece had been won by the same VIP box number 18. Just as much mystery surrounded the box owner as did the jeweler. The greeter at the entrance of the hall smiled as he looked at the old man, "Mr. Mateschitz, it's an honor for you to grace us with your presence today. Mr. Matthis has a new piece today are you interested in it as well or only Ibis."

The old man grunted in response thinking of the former student turned rival. However both men had come to a silent agreement that they were mere amateurs to jewelry design when Ibis's first piece was released, Nights Sky. The seemingly simple necklace crafted out of dark blue diamonds and sapphires with some clear diamonds scattered throughout, made everyone believe that they were truly looking at a painting of the night sky. The piece ended up selling to that b*stard in Box 18 for 150 million Euros.

Tobias snapped out of his mind as he took his seat in his own VIP room and ask the attendant, "is that jerk in 18 here? He's spent almost a billion on Ibis. I don't think he can win today." The attendant just shook us head at the statement before smiling and responding, "Mr. 18 is here he arrived about ten minutes ago. Again, they were wearing a mask and hood with huge glasses making him unidentifiable." Tobias nodded as the auction room was filling up and a few of the smaller items had begun to be auctioned off.

Time seemed to pass slowly as the items were auctioned off until the final two items. First was a pair of rings made by Hans. As the auctioneer started of the bidding it soon rose to 20 million Euros until the man in 18 sent in a bid for 35 Million, silencing the hall in the process. Everyone knew that once the man has spoke he was going to win no matter the cost. Did he really have to nearly double the price. That was just slapping everyone who bid on the item. A few unlucky souls kept bidding but in the end the man from 18 won again at a final price of 39 million.

A few held their breath as the final item came out as the auctioneer described the item everyone was mystified by the pull the red stones had on them. The sparkle of the stones and ornate design seemingly made everyone think time had really stopped. Everyone seemed the snap out of it when the auctioneer said, "the item is valued at 98 million Euros." The words earned scoffs as their gaze went up to Box 18. This was the most valued item in the collection from Ibis so far before auction but even the Night Sky valued at only 15 million went over this valuation. Soon the auction started at 50 million.

60 million

70 million

80million

95 million

110 million

125 million

In a blink of an eye the price soared as three men quickly bid the item up to 210 million. The four men were Hans Matthis, Josue Ramirez, and Tobias Matechitz. The man in 18 leaned forward as the other three rose the price to 230 million. Then suddenly a bid came in from him: 350 million. Silence. Even the auctioneer was stunned at the mans sudden bid. Everyone stared at the private box not even realizing the auction had ended. Of course the other three admitted defeat as none of them could out bid that, even 250 million was a stretch for these men. As a precaution the auction house made the man in 18 pay for the item while holding onto the latest bid from Tobias as a backup in case the man couldn't pay. After news came down the the payment went through everyone's eyes shifted to the watches still on display. The record breaking 350 million Euro pair of watches.
