Alex stared at us with a certain type of look, I didn't like, a look that bothered me wholeheartedly. He looked like a boy that had just won the lottery on the black market and didn't know if he should bet for more or just leave with what he got. In fact, he looked like he would steal more because nothing would satisfy him more than ruining everyone else's lives.
I almost felt scared for his host family. Alex looked like a rebel and one that couldn't be warned. The kids that he would take care of, would become mean and more ruthless then anything I've encountered. I didn't know whether to walk away and leave her with him or help her. I didn't want trouble here but I didn't want to be unkind.
Alex looked like the big bad wolf and one that didn't leave his meals for spoil.
The room was still as we all looked at each other. Unsure to either deny or accept the concequences that were coming. Alex's face had morphed into a big a smile that would be a siren, to any dumb girl. Even a smart one would stumble but be cautious.
"Alex…" I murmured. Letting go of Natasha's sweaty hand as I locked eye contact with him. I slowly stood up as if trying to not intimidate the snake or wolf before me.
'Look bigger and scarier but do not attack.' They say. Nobody said anything about how to deal with venomous people.
"This bonding session is so cute." He laughed as he moved closer to me. His movement as though gliding on the very ground. His confidence oozing off him like an aura.
"Leave Natasha." I commanded without even turning to her. I knew she would break from whatever was coming. She was too soft, too caring. I lost the ability to be hurt like that. That girl, she died a long time ago from men like him.
I heard her place the cup on the table slowly and move away, only for her to trip on her own two feet and fall. I could hear her gasp and take panic breathes, right then Alex turned his head slowly to her. He looked at her as if ready to pounce. He then whispered.
"Huff."
And that was enough for her to push herself up and sprint for dear life. I knew she was scared and rattled, if her secret came out she would be in so much trouble. Not just with the program but possibly with the law. I could be dragged into this as an accsible and it would mean the end of my life.
"Your something else." He murmured, his eyes dancing with slight humor accompanied by curiosity.
"I'm someone else." I corrected.
"That is not correct according to language." He teased.
"I don't always follow the rules of English, you should know, its not my mother tongue nor my fathers. Plus I am not a thing, I am a person. I am not something else just cause you haven't encountered someone like me." I reprimanded
"Okay then human, do I play god and own your soul?" he asked
"God, himself knows, the souls his created are trademarked. Try playing the devil it would suit you enough. You might even win the Oscar."
"You think I'm joking?"
"You think I care. Go ahead and tell the officials, it ain't my life you're ruining it's another woman's plus… it wouldn't be the first time a white person tries to control another race 'cause he thinks his justified to." I spat, looking him in his eyes, twitching, I bumped his shoulder and began to walk away.
"So, you don't like the white race?"
I stopped and looked over my shoulder "I see you don't listen, I said it would be the first time, your decisions make you different but from what I'm seeing you might not be."
"You don't know me."
"And you don't know me. You bark. I bite." I teased and walked on.
Once in my room, I left out a heavy breath and slipped down my down my door. I never had to act that tough before. I just hope it doesn't back fire, otherwise I'll be forced to bite.
