I bring my palms up and resume scratching them with pouty lips.
All of a sudden, Jake grabs my left hand. That simple gesture makes my whole body go hot as his hand feels so soft and very cold. At a normal hour, I would have given him another flying kick. But being an emotional mess, and the way he's holding my hand; his pale hand gently stroking the back of my tanner hand, I stop crying as my brain shuts off the itchy feeling and I just stare at our hands.
How can he make my heart beat faster so easily?
"Why did you have to do that?"
I gasp, hearing his deep voice. I quickly lift my head to stare up at him as he reaches behind my head and plucks a green leaf. He squeezes it with his other hand until it's a little moist then he begins rubbing it all over my palm.
"Did you really need to go that far?" He continues questioning, his eyes following his every move as he pays absolute attention at the task at hand.
