We walked out of the little apartment and the boy followed me like a shadow, and it raised the hairs on the back of my neck. Hildr wanted me to spin around and challenge the man. My mother was not paying attention. I felt my hand begin to twitch and Hildr wanted a weapon, I wanted to be able to protect myself.
"You can stop trying to intimidate her before you end up draw Hildr out," The feeling of anger and fear backed off, and I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. It was a boulder that rolled off my back. We rounded the corner of the little hallway and I felt tension snap back into my spine and I saw the staircase going down. I did not like to be underground, I backed up away from my mother's side and straight back into the chest of the guy behind me. His arms came up against my arms, and his touch comforted me...which worried me. Cara looked back at me with a little bit of confusion. It was a violent reaction to something so small.
