Chapter 6 - They would Meet Eventually

Love happens in most bizarrely and strangest places, romantics would say; but there was nothing romantic about being tossed to the ground.

It all happened too quickly to dodge, Scarlett realized. She had just picked up her ring with a triumphant glee but for her to stand up to her feet, bumped into someone.

The sheer force of the unexpected jolt brought both to the ground with Scarlett on top of him. She was so embarrassed and was about to apologize when her gaze met his face-he was handsome.

His high cheekbones and chiseled bone structure were sharp and unreal, one would think he had surgery to enhance it but Scarlett had a good eye to differentiate both. For some reason, he looked oddly familiar but couldn't pinpoint where and how she had seen him.

Scarlett noticed his black curly that was faded on the sides and back with an overflowing head of hair giving it an angular fringe look.

"Are you alright?" She asked with concern but his black orbs kept staring at her with no answer.

The girl was concerned, she knew he had hit his head while falling and wondered if he had damaged something. No, they needed to go for a scan, so she could determine the degree of his injury.

Scarlett still had that thought in mind when she heard a frightened scream and was roughly shoved to the side where she hit her arm in the wall but to worsen it all, she heard him say,

"You have the stench of death"

That was truly ridiculous and the highest insult she had ever received in her entire life.

Yes, she was wrong in knocking him to the ground. She was sorry but did he really have to push her away and insult her at that?.

"You!" Ben stood to his feet to escape her when he heard her boom.

Scarlett winced as her arm hurt but she did her best not to look in pain; she was a big girl and big girls don't cry.

"What do you think you're doing?"

Ben turned around with an annoyed look, "I don't understand"

"I'm sorry for knocking into you but doesn't your manner suck, did you have to push me back?" She asked him vexed.

"I have my reason for that" Ben said without a glance, continuing his journey which exasperated the girl further.

Her fist clenched by her side, she was going to show that rude ass who he was dealing with. Scarlett started after him determined to see this to the end, she was a very prideful person and wouldn't take that insult lying down.

But as soon as she touched him on the shoulder, that rude man swatted her hand and pushed her against the wall.

Strangely he pulled away from her with a jerk as if he was scared or perhaps, disgusted by her.

"Don't ever touch me!" He warned her through gritted teeth before storming away.

Scarlett was very confused, he was really angry. Did she do something wrong? But she was the victim here -well, she wasn't at first but now she was.

She had seen the look in his eyes, disgust with a hint of anger and apprehension. Quicky, she took a sniff of her armpit, she didn't smell, then what could have brought on the look of disgust.

But all sympathetic feelings induced by his strange retaliation disappeared when she heard him say, "God helps any man that marries you"

Now, Scarlett was angry but he had already left before the girl could give him a piece of her mind. She lifted her arm, wrinkling her nose where she had scraped her elbow thanks to that rude jerk.

Fine, she had imprinted his face in her head anyway-she wouldn't forget him- she would search and hunt him down till she had her vengeance!

"Sister" Scarlett whipped around when she heard Vivian's voice, she was back.

"What are you doing outside here?"

"I was bored inside and decided to have a walk "

Scarlett loved her sister so much, both were the only kids of her parents who lived in the countryside.

It was obvious her parents weren't well to do but they had done everything in their power to send her to school. Now she was done with school, got a job, and is now financing her sister in her final year.

Both loved and supported each other the way children raised in a loving home would.

"Wait a minute, where did you get that wound? That wasn't there the last time I saw you" Her sister questioned her sternly, examining the wound with a prominent frown.

"Ah this, I mistakenly injured myself" She lied.

Though Scarlett was the elder one, Vivian was too protective of her like a mother hen and more fierce.

If she had told him that a stranger hurt her, she wouldn't mind flipping over the world just to find that rude jerk and rain thunder and brimstone on him - he should thank his lucky gods.

Before Jasper engaged her, Vivian had given him a really tough time. The girl had watched enough movies to know a rich guy wouldn't like a poor girl but for one reason - to use and dump her eventually.

But her fiance managed to prove his pure intentions through his actions causing her little sister to cease her attack and lower her defenses around him.

Vivian narrowed her eyes in suspicion, "Are you sure?"

Scarlett nudged her, " Of course, why would I lie to you?"

"Fine, let's go and treat that " She began to lead her towards the direction of her room.

Scarlett looked over her shoulder one last time. Fine, enemies were bound to meet on a narrow way, she would meet him sooner or later; it was inevitable.
