Chapter 27 - Walking Down Memory Lane -20

Jasper pinched the bridge of his nose upon hearing that comment. It was exactly as Scarlett told him; stay far away from her.

"If I intend on doing that, would I have come to you?" Jasper asked Sabrina, a bit vexed.

"You ignorant human! Is your life that less significant you can throw it away for love - an emotion that goes away with time," Sabrina admonished him.

"What about the one you love? Have you stopped loving him?" Jasper threw that sudden question at her that made her blink, taken aback.

"Look," He sighed, threading his hand through his hair, "Ben told me if there's anyone who can solve my problem that is you," He reminded her of the purpose of his coming here

"Then I'm sorry to tell you that the stupid Ben misdiagnosed, I can't help you," she shot up to her feet to leave.

"If it's money, I have enough of it, just name your price. But please, do not deny me this one shot at love - she's the one meant for me, I can feel it deep down in my bones,"

Sabrina halted, she turned around to face him, " I've given you a chance to run for your life but since you're adamant, I'd have known that there's indeed a way to stop the attacks from coming at you or her, "

"Really?" His face brightened.

"Yes, there is, but it's only temporary- It can't hold off the curse forever," she added, "And don't you dare think my services are for free,"

"Of course, go ahead. I'll pay. It doesn't matter whether it's temporary, just go ahead with whatever you have to do. I believe I can find a permanent solution before the short time's over,"

Sabrina pursed her lips, "Well, if you say so. Now follow me," she turned on her heels.

There was no room for reconsideration, Jasper stood on his feet and followed the woman into the house where they came into another room that was the embodiment of witchcraft.

Looking around, there were several bottled concoctions featuring animal parts - some he could identify, and the rest he couldn't. There was a table at the end of the room with a huge book on top of it which he guessed to be her spellbook - he had watched enough movies to know every witch had one. There were several mysterious artifacts hung on the walls, this place could easily pass off as a museum.

"Don't touch anything,"

Her warning startled Jasper since he was about to feel a bird feather that was too beautiful to be real.

"Your friend Ben did once," she told him.

"What happened to him?" he was curious to know.

"Let's just say the consequences were well deserved," she revealed curtly.

Jasper put his hand back in his pocket, preferring to look around. He had enough curses to deal with.

"Sit," She commanded, already on the floor cross-legged.

Jasper obeyed, wondering what the necklace placed in the middle of the drawn triangle with the empty hourglass placed beside it was for.

"I need her hair for this ritual," she announced.

Before Jasper's watchful eyes, she chanted one of those mystifying spells over Scarlett's picture and touched it, extracting her real strands.

"She would feel only a slight pain in her scalp, nothing much," Sabrina explained her procedures to the bewildered Jasper.

Did she just magically take her hair through the picture? Gosh!

"Give me your hand," she asked for it.

Jasper was a bit scared when he handed his hand to her, but he hardened his heart. It wouldn't make sense if she killed him.

However, he changed his mind when he saw her bring out a knife, "Wait a minute, what are you - "

She cut his palm.

"Ouch!" that hurt.

She held his hand tight, letting his blood dribble on the items in that triangle.

"Sana,"

His wound closed up.

"What the..." his eyes widened to the size of saucers. Ben has a lot of questions to answer after this. He was slowly turning into a believer.

"This is the hard part. You have to prepare yourself," she announced with a sense of dread.

"Prepare myself for what,"

"Not getting possessed,"

"What?"

"Close your eyes; do not open them no matter what. Clear your mind and focus on the side of my voice only," Sabrina instructed.

Jasper closed his eyes just because he was told so. What could possibly happen?

"O rageful sancto appareant ego praecipio tibi hoc obligamus sandclock nunquam amplius cruciarentur dum tempus est "

The witch's chant was the only sound in his head. As doubtful as he was, Jasper knew the real shit was going down when all the hairs on his body stood on edge, the temperature in the room dropped and the witch's chant got louder and fiercer.

The uproar lasted for about thirty minutes before everything calmed. Jasper opened his eyes without Sabrina telling him so, he sensed the storm was over.

What shocked him the most was the once empty hourglass was now filled with sand.

"It might be months? A year? I don't know, but as long as the sand doesn't empty out or the device cracks, you're safe," she handed the hourglass to him which he took carefully.

"And this," She lifted the beautiful necklace, "Give her this to wear, it would ward off the spirits,"

"Spirits?" his brow furrowed.

"You don't need to know that now. But hey, that's a family heirloom, she should be careful with that or I'll roast her ass,"

"Thank you," He received it as well. The beautifully crafted necklace was a masterpiece.

"I'll fax the bill to your office later. Now get the hell out of my house,"

Jasper was not surprised by her comment. If she could do magic, finding him was a piece of cake.

Jasper was almost out the door when she announced, "There's also something you need to know, "

He turned, "What is it?"

"You're not the one for her,"

"What," Jasper's heart sank but he didn't show it on his face, "What are you talking about?"

"No matter how much you strive, you're not her destined mate,"

He scoffed, "You read palms now?"

"Take it or leave it,"

"We'll see about that then. Goodbye Sabrina,"
