"It is no fault of yours," Ben said indifferently. 

"He died in my place. I can remember it clearly now. Sam had pushed me out of the way and I hit my head on the pavement. I saw it clearly; the way his body had been tossed in the air like he was some weightless paper by the momentum and then landed with a great thud.
