"What kiss?"
Both of them turned in the direction of the voice and Scarlett felt all the breath leave her lungs. Of all people to catch her making such an embarrassing confession, it was Adira - Ben's owns mother.
"Madam Adira," Scarlett whispered, pale. She was dead meat. The woman was surely going to tell on her - she was best friends with Amelia.
"I trained you decent enough not to go after your best friend's woman," The woman said with a tone that wasn't too pleased as she walked into the room.
Ben rolled his eyes, he should have known the only person uncivilized enough to barge into his room without knocking was his mother.
"Madam, I can explain," Scarlett stepped forward.
"There's nothing worth explaining. I've heard enough," she dismissed her without hearing her out.
