Chapter 26 - Vol 1 : The Party ⭐

Faye felt it was just sarcasm, but she still answered, "Sure, Papa."

Her father let go of his hug, then glanced at Denis who was beside Faye.

Faye understood the meaning of her father's gaze, "Papa, this is my husband, Denis."

Denis bowed his body respectfully, "My name is Denis, nice to finally meet you, Mr. Grace."

"Call me Aiden, Denis," Aiden said, holding out his hand.

Denis happily replied.

Faye, seeing how harmonious they were, started to think. She thought Aiden would be cold because Denis didn't mention his surname, but he didn't.

Does her father know Denis's background?

Faye still remembers how Aiden looked for James's background by hiring people.

Aiden is not happy with James because he likes traveling. He can imagine what in the future if Faye gets married. He believes his daughter will often be left behind by James, sadly, he guessed it happened before marriage.

James is indeed from a wealthy family, but Aiden still doesn't agree that being rich can't make Faye happy.

Then with Denis?

Faye wondered what her father's answer would be, considering that Denis has a sense of loyalty, but is less about financial matters.

So far not bad.

"Why didn't you tell Papa you were getting married, Fay?" Aiden asked.

How can Faye say if this was all an accident?

Before Faye could say, Denis had answered first.

"I'm sorry Mr. Grace if you want to blame, blame me for loving your daughter so much that I dared to put a ring on her hand without your consent first," said Denis seriously.

Faye was stunned to hear Denis's words without any doubts. She was stunned by his acting so natural ...? She was again confused whether Denis's words were serious or not.

'Better a lie.'

Faye looked away and saw Claudia hastily walking over. Instantly she remembered her original plan here, namely to apologize to her mother.

"Ah, you have come," said Claudia, "Denis, nice to see you again~"

Denis nodded, "Auntie— I mean Claudia, I'm also happy to be invited." He hurriedly confirmed his call after receiving a glare from her.

Claudia smiled sweetly again. "Of course Denis, this is a special party for the two of you," she said, then glanced at her daughter, "Fay, you don't mind, do you?"

To be honest, Faye wanted to protest, only this time she swallowed it whole and gave a small nod, "About this afternoon—"

"Hmph," Claudia cut in quickly, "we don't have to talk about the past, Mama understands why you react that way, baby. It's just that Mama's offer is still open if you change your mind."

Faye nodded, although she was glad Claudia was forgiving, she still said, "I'm really sorry about that, Mama," she regretted deeply.
