At the arena, the crowds cheered as the mechanical fighters broke each other down into pieces of scrap. The boys sat in the highest seats at the back enjoying the view. "So, this is fun and all but I am more interested in the story you were telling earlier, you know? about the rumor?" Jonathan said, "George, He wants to know why people around here want the nobles dead" Rex said without taking his eyes of the match. "Well well well, you are about to go an adventure you have nev...." "We get it, just tell him the story" Rex cut George off, "How rude" George pouted, "Any way, here is how it all begun, they call it the horrors of King Sine" George said.
King Sine drew his sword and swiftly dashed toward his Son, Samuel fixed his gaze on his father's movements, looking for the smallest opening but he found none, however he could clearly see the path of his strike. With one swift motion Samuel rotates under his father's incoming blade and counters by swinging his own blade backward.
Sine is struck by his son's blade but he simply turns and looks at his son with disgust in his eyes. Samuel was shocked to see that there wasn't a single scratch on his father and moreover, his own blade was broken. "So this is the power you gained from evil deed, impressive but I will still stop you" Samuel said, "You were never good at strategy, you always act before you think, How do you plan to defeat a God" Sine said, "You are not a god, only a fool!!" Samuel said, Sine is visibly angered by this comment and in a fit of rage he grabs Samuel's head before he could even blink, Sine proceeds to slam Samuel's head into the ground and drive his sword through his chest. Samuel coughs up blood and screams in pain but Sine does not relent, he kneels on top of Samuel and begins to smash his fists into his skull.
"Stop!" a voice shouted from the doorway, Sine pauses and turns to face the intruder. "Why are you here my queen?, have you come to defend this rat you call a son?", "Get off him now!" the queen shouted and Sine suddenly appeared directly in front of her. She took a step back and stumbled a little from shock of his sudden movement. Jonathan stood a few feet behind the queen, wondering if he should take a risk and help the queen but fear gripped him and he decided to retreating would be the best option. "I need to find the others and find a way to stop this ritual", Jonathan thought to himself.
"So just to be clear, you are saying that the baseborns believe that king Sine, the most powerful king to ever exist, used some sort of evil magic to drain the life of billions of baseborns to empower the Nobles so that we could reign forever?" Jonathan said. "You don't believe it?" George said, "Of course not, king Sine was a kind and honorable man who Sacrificed his life to save everyone from the dark arts of the fallen Noble. Everyone knows this, the only reason for what you just told me is to create chaos" Jonathan said.
"Guys, we came here to have fun not to stress out about some fake news. Now, who do we bet on for the next match? " Rex said as he brought up the stats of the next fighters on his gauntlet. "I think I'm gonna pass " George said with a grin. "You gamble?" Jonathan said with a look of surprise and confusion, "Of course, it's the only thing this place is good for" Rex said. "Rex, we are Nobles, we do not take part in such things." Jonathan said, "The Adults say that, but we all know it's bull shit" Rex said.
"Look, I do not really know who you are but what you just said is complete nonsense", Jonathan said, "haaa...ok... I guess I am doing this alone, be back in a minute" Rex said as he made his way to the betting booths. "Hey wait!, do they even allow teenagers to bet?"Jonathan asked but Rex just shrugged and kept walking. "Is he always like this?" Jonathan asked George, "This is just a small sample of who he is." George replied with his usual grin.
Rex makes his way down up to the exit and into the reception hall. He spots the betting booths and approaches Old Hobbs. "Hey old man, having a nice day?" Rex said, "Reeeeex!, Rex...Rex...Rex How many times do I have to repeat myself.... Rex." Hobbs said. "Come on old man, don't be like that" Rex said, "Will you quit calling me old me old man already?!!" Hobbs snaps at Rex. "Look, just hurry up and place your bets. I don't got the heart for this today" Hobbs said. "Sorry Mr. Hobbs, I was just pulling your leg a lit....." Boom!!! a blast shakes the ground. "What the hell?!!!" Rex exclaims.
