''Mom, I'm home'' Seyram said once she stepped foot on the porch. She removed her sneakers and changing into a pair of brown fluffy home slippers before entering the hall.
Nicole rushed out of the kitchen with a plate of tofu pancake. She stopped in front of her daughter and said to her, ''eat a tofu pancake to ward off the evil''
''Mom, I told you to stop being superstitious. It was just a misunderstanding. Nothing major''
''Still, my precious daughter went to the police station. Do you know how scared I was when you call to tell me you will be coming back late because you were in the police station? My girl is law abiding; how could she be sent to the police for running over a rabbit?'' Nicole pouted her lips as she spoke.
Seyram chuckled as she looked at her mother who didn't seem to age one bit. Standing beside her, one would think that they were sisters and not a mother and a daughter.
