Chapter 49 - Won't be able to get rid of her

''Can't you just get rid of her for me, Ray? Not only is she always hovering around Sun like a mosquito but now he even brought her to the company as an accountant'' Priscy said furiously over the phone. She was so angry and wanted to strangle someone.

''Priscy calm down and listen to me''

''I'm listening'' she calmed herself down first and listened to Ray on the other side.

''I think Leo must have found out something about the money missing from the company's accounts. Are you sure you did everything legally, because if there is evidence somewhere that could prove that you stole money from the company's investment funds, it's going to be a big problem''

''I did everything according to the instructions that you gave. There is no way he is going to be able to find anything even if he searched throughout the company's database. I got this under control. I just need to get rid of that bitch''

''Don't worry, I will be the one to get rid of that person for you. Just focus on getting your hands on the company's blueprint and operation ownership details and his seal. As soon as we get out hands on that one, it doesn't matter what Leo does, he won't be able to save even himself talk less of that little parasite beside him. This is the biggest revenge you can get on him for not reciprocating your love for him all these years''

''That woman didn't even finish her University studies, what can she possibly know about company assets and accounts statements. I'm sure she is just a wallflower and nothing else''

''Exactly, this is how you should be; confident and unbending. In the meantime, while I figure out how to get rid of her for good, why don't you take your time having fun with her? Oh, right, I will send you a profile of someone we can use to mess around with her for now''

''That sounds like a plan''

''Take care, bye'' Ray ended the call and placed the phone on the coffee table before looking up at the man who had just joined his table at the café shop.

''You sent me an email asking me to meet you here, right?'' Detective Gail asked Ray right away as soon as he was done with his phone.

Ray smiled and placed a brown envelope on the table. He beckoned on him with his chin to pick it up and he did.

Detective Gail opened the envelope and saw pictures of himself together with Nicole, they consisted of the different places and times that he had met with her and also of the times that he had stalked her.

''What is the meaning of this?''

''I believe you want her, right? Judging from the way you follow her about, she must be someone you are interested in''

''So what if I'm interested in her? So what if I'm not interested in her?'' Detective Gail asked, pushing the pictures towards Ray's side.

''I don't know what kind of business you have with her but I can make sure that you have her all to yourself'' Ray proposed. He wasn't the type to go in circles when he wanted something from someone.

''What's in this for you?''

''We both get what we want; which is you having her and I getting my friend back''

''Is that why you killed your friend's fiancée? I wonder what she found out about you that made you kill her even though you were so madly in love with her'' Detective Gail leaned back against the chair and crossed his arms around his chest. He watched Ray's face, taking in the subtle changes in his facial expressions. The other person was trying to remain calm.

''You seem to not be ordinary either. Are you also a special person like her too? Someone who chats with dead people?'' Ray asked as his hands quivered. He was making wild assumptions because till now he wasn't still able to tell the exact kind of person Nicole was. He only knew that she was special and wanted to find out more about her.

Detective Gail's pictures were mixed with the ones sent to him and after looking at them, he came to the conclusion that, she was someone he wanted or at least cared about.

''I don't do deals that are auspicious to the other party because then, I would be blackmailed by it. Whether I want Nicole or not is my personal business. I don't need anybody's help to get her and no one is powerful enough to take her away from me. I am merely letting her play around first''

''What if I decide to get rid of her?''

'I'm sorry to burst your bubbles but you won't be able to get rid of her''

Ray furrowed his brows as he looked at Detective Gail and asked, ''what do you mean by that?''

''How can you kill someone that exist only in your subconscious memory?'' Detective Gail looked at Ray and shook his head, ''you humans are so weak yet your quest for power is so insatiable''

''Someone that exist in my subconscious memory? What do you mean by that?''

''In any case, you and that woman better report yourselves to the police. It's just a matter of time before you two are caught. Don't try to think too much into what I've said, if you know what's good for you, don't try to get rid of her; only you will be the one to get hurt in a really horrible way''

Detective Gail laughed and sipped the coffee in front of him before standing to his feet, ''the next time you send me an email, I will show you the difference between my world and yours'' he added and walked out of the café leaving Ray even more confused.

Ray seemed lost as he stared into space incoherently, he didn't know what to make of the meeting just now but one thing was clear to him, now that he knew Nicole wasn't an ordinary person, he couldn't allow her to stay by Leo's side for long. There was nothing that he, Ray couldn't do and getting rid of a frail woman was easy for him.

...

Back at the company, Priscy picked a picture of Nicole and smiled, ''this is about to get interesting Nicole Benson, you dare to enter into the lion's den with your own two feet? Let's see how long you will last by acting up in front of me''

Inside Leo's office.

Leo handed over some accounts files to Nicole to go and look at them. she took them and went out to go to her desk which was not far from Leo's own. He had made an extension in his office to accommodate Nicole's desk so that they would work closely to each other. He also did that to be able to protect her from Priscy.

''Can I make copies of these and send home? I want to look over it if I am not able to finish them today''

''Already hard working are you?'' Leo teased her.

''I am getting paid for it, so I should do my best, right?''

''Let me, I will go and make the copies for you'' Leo stood up to take the documents from her and she refused.

''No, let me do it. If you do everything for me, what will the people here say? They are already avoiding me because of what happened this morning. I want to be a normal worker like them''

''Fine, go ahead then'' Leo said to her and sat back. Nicole smiled and went out to the photocopier room, there she met two ladies also making copies and she greeted them.

''Hi'' Nicole said but the ladies didn't reply. They simply looked at her and picked their stuff, leaving the room. Nicole turned and looked at them and smiled awkwardly before she turned to the photocopier. She looked at it not know how to use it. She sighed and cussed herself for lacking social skills.

''Let me teach you how to use it'' Leo said and went closer to her enveloping her in the process. He stood closely behind her, trapping her between the copier.

''Leo…'' Nicole flushed as his arms traced down hers stopping at her fingers.

''Watch what I'm doing and stop looking at me'' he said to her and she turned away quickly to look at the copier.

The workers that were hiding came out to watch them. Some even took out their phones to take them pictures. Their posture was extremely intimate.

''Can you step aside; the workers are looking at us?'' Nicole stuttered.

''I'm doing it because I want them to see'' he said and pressed her fingers on the number of copies to make and pressed on the start button before turned swiftly to face them. The workers flushed and turned to go back to their desks.

At a distance, Priscy clutched her fists tightly as she watched them. She was the one who had told the workers not to associate with Nicole, she had threatened them that she would lay them off if she finds them chatting with her, hence everyone was cautious.
