He wasn't happy about it, but just before he could sweep out of range, he drew his arm back and launched his sword as hard as he could towards the Giant King's wide open and gloating eye.
The throw was straight and true, flying point first towards his pupil. The Giant's eyes glinted as he caught sight of it, but judging by how the creature moved up till then, Ermos thought it to be the killing blow.
And then he blinked.
The speed at which his eyelids closed was almost instantaneous, as though every ounce of speed that his body was capable of had been saved for his eyelids alone.
The sword neared what looked to be soft flesh and it did not slow before it struck it straight on. Ermos gritted his teeth, hoping that it would pierce and secure him the kill.
But the eyelids were as hard as the Giant King claimed. The sword hit them hard and a single crack ran up its entire length, webbing off into thousands of smaller cracks.
