Chapter 1 - Reset: The Earth

"Rolf, come here boy!"

Rolf ran to me, then immediately sat in front of me. I saw something in his mouth, "Rolf, you bought me food?" Rolf only look at me, and lay down next to my feet. I can only smile to see his behavior, "You do know it, right? This will not cure my illness. "

I sigh, "Slowly but surely, I felt death coming closer to me. ...Tonight, maybe, is the last time I'll be here."

I looked around me, there's nothing left in this world anymore. Buildings have collapsed everywhere, no plants or animals in sight, all that's left is the moon, and Rolf that's with me in this dark world. "Really .., is this the end of the world? Because of human being that do not know bounds, and limits, is this a punishment from the Gods for us? Because of our greediness, we ended ourselves? " I felt empty inside.

"If only we had realized the damage that will be done, would it still have happened?"

"If only we stop for a moment to reconsider our action"

"If only at that time, we didn't wage wars just for more power."

"If only ...," I stopped for a moment. Lots of thoughts crossed my mind. But I knew one thing, no matter how much I wish it to happen, I still can't change the past. Even when there is so much things I want to say, even when I want to scream it out loud, the words are stuck in my throat.

Is it because I'm unable to express this emotions?

No, It's because...., I know I'm not one worthy to say those things, "These are all results of our own actions, therefore we also have to bear them."

I close my eyes, remembering all the people I love. My wife, my daughter and my friends have already left this world. Those who are unable to live in this fallen world chose to end their lives, or nature will be the one who end them. Seeing them one by one leaving is my duty as a husband, father and friend, to wish them well in the afterlife.

"Rolf, you know what? At least when I die, no one will cry over my departure. " Rolf looked at me sadly, "After this, you can go anywhere you want. No need for you to accompany my journey anymore. It's okay, buddy. "

My body felt heavy, and my consciousness is getting thinner, but I still stroked his head one last time, "Thanks for everything, mate."
