Chapter 449 - OPTM-Chapter 337 Katakuri’s Premonition

On board the Pirate Ship, "The Donut"…

Since yesterday, Katakuri hadn't closed his eyes. As they got closer to Poly Island, his vague premonition grew clearer.

His proficiency in Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki), which allowed him to see glimpses of the future, made him extremely sensitive to danger and disasters.

There was no reason for this sense of unease to arise out of thin air!

Katakuri was well aware of this.

In order to prevent any unknown dangers, Katakuri had been standing on the deck for a day, but he hadn't detected any trace of enemies.

"Katakuri Sama, we can now see Poly Island ahead. Oven Sama's Vivre Card hasn't changed direction. We currently estimate that he should still be on the island."

A uniquely shaped man with a mustache walked over, speaking respectfully to Katakuri.

His lower limbs were unusually long, while his upper body was plump and bloated. He wore a complete set of pink suits, and at his waist was a ring of egg-shaped ornaments, as if eggs had become his essence.

When he spoke, there was a mysterious and peculiar lilt in his voice. He held a cane in his hand, and despite his odd appearance, he exuded an elegant gentlemanly demeanor.

This was a secret operation, so secret that not even Big Mom was aware of it.

While Baron Tamago was fearful of Big Mom's wrath if she found out, as long as he successfully brought back Oven Sama and the offender who had provoked Totto Land, everything would be fine.

Furthermore, this operation was led by the "Charlotte Family's Greatest Masterpiece," Charlotte Katakuri, personally!

Baron Tamago didn't see anything amiss about it.

This was the confidence that Katakuri instilled in Baron Tamago through decades of undefeated records and maintaining a perfect posture.

As he looked at the coastline gradually rising from the sea, Katakuri nodded and ordered, "Have the soldiers prepare for battle. If there's any situation, notify me immediately. Baron Tamago, stay behind to guard the ship and prevent the enemy from damaging it."

"Yes, Katakuri Sama!" Baron Tamago elegantly bowed and then went to relay the orders.

Katakuri was sure that he would secure victory with his intervention. However, as he gazed at Poly Island getting closer and closer, the unease in his heart not only didn't dissipate but instead grew more intense!

"What on earth is going to happen?"

He had prepared himself for a possible ambush along the way, which was why he had been on the deck since yesterday. However, he hadn't expected that they would smoothly approach Poly Island like this.

This made Katakuri couldn't help but wonder if the enemy had already left.

The reputation of a Yonko was well-known, and after injuring Oven, the enemy must have been feeling uneasy and might have fled to avoid retaliation.

But if the enemy had left, where did this sense of foreboding come from?

Suddenly, at this moment, Katakuri's expression froze, and he stood still!

"No… it can't be…"

His arm trembled slightly as he opened his hand, revealing the Vivre Card that had long been soaked through with sweat.

Just minutes ago, the faint spark on the Vivre Card remained unchanged, just like the previous days, which had relieved him of his anxiety.

But now…

That spark blazed with an unstoppable force, burning fiercely!

In the brief moment it took for him to open his hand, the Vivre Card, now only half the length of his thumb, was instantly reduced to ashes!

This meant that his younger brother, Charlotte Oven, had just ceased to breathe!

"No!!!"

Anguish, reluctance, regret, and despair. The painful cries echoed in the vast expanse of space, and Katakuri's eyes were bloodshot. He stared at the fading embers of the Vivre Card carried away by the wind, and the next moment, his killing intent surged!

"Whoever you are! I will make you… pay the price!!" Katakuri looked up to the sky and let out a long roar. At the same moment of his roar, the clouds in the sky suddenly twisted.

Boom!

The thousand-meter-long rosy cloud, illuminated by the morning sun, exploded in an instant. A white thunder beast let out a deafening roar, moving its limbs and leaping down with unparalleled raging thunder, heading straight for them.

Thunder Cloud Qilin!

Zi zi… Boom!!!

Height isn't everything, depth isn't everything. It's the quality, not the quantity…

Watching the mushroom cloud explode on the distant sea, Rowen sat on a large rock, pinching his cigar between two fingers and taking a deep puff.

"The commotion still isn't big enough!"

Meanwhile, as the blind man walked out of the noodle shop, he was unsurprisingly cornered on a rarely frequented old street.

A small-time thug with yellow hair and a wooden stick stood in front of him, arrogantly demanding, "Hand over your package, old blind man!"

"Who are you?!" The blind man trembled as he tried to step back, but the gang of thugs, who were well-versed in such matters, had already blocked him from behind, pushing him back to the center.

The guy on the outskirts in charge of keeping watch had a fierce look on his face. He banged on the wooden sticks and metal pipes he had picked up from who-knows-where, shouting curses at the residents who were peeking out from their windows.

"Get inside, all of you! Do you want a beating, huh?!"

"Do you want to keep looking?! I'll gouge your eyes out!!"

The residents, who dared not speak out against these hooligans causing trouble on the island, sympathetically looked at the blind man who had been targeted, then closed their doors and windows tightly.

Satisfied with his show of intimidation, the yellow-haired ringleader swaggered forward and snatched the package from the blind man.

"Hand it over!"

"No, that's mine! I need to take it back to cure my daughter!"

"Hahaha! An old blind man like you actually has a daughter? You're killing me!"

The yellow-haired thug sneered at him and then pulled out the contents of the package. After identifying them with surprise, a wide grin stretched across his face.

"It really is a Devil Fruit!! Hahaha! With this, I'm setting sail and making a name for myself too!"

"Big Brother is mighty!"

"Big Brother, let me be your Vice Captain! I'm strong!"

The group of thugs excitedly flattered him, but they didn't notice that, with their shouts, a group of cloaked figures had already approached.

"Kill!"

Without a word, the newcomers rushed forward as they got closer, thrusting a sharp knife straight through.

"Ah!!!"

The yellow-haired thug, who had just obtained the Devil Fruit less than a minute ago, widened his eyes in disbelief. He clutched his chest and collapsed weakly.

"The Dark-Dark Fruit is ours, let's go!"

The leader was well-trained. Without the slightest pause after getting what they wanted, he led the group of cloaked figures and disappeared from the end of the street in the blink of an eye.

"Mur… murder!!"

The terrified hooligans around froze for a few seconds before screaming and scattering in all directions.

On the spot, the old blind man knelt in pain, roaring in frustration.

"That was mine!"

"My daughter! I'm sorry, my daughter!"

"Ah!"

Witnessing this scene, the residents sighed in empathy.

After what seemed like a long time, as if tired from crying, the old blind man stood up. He didn't bother with the scattered items on the ground and swayed unsteadily as he walked away.

In the afternoon, some hunters who were heading up the mountain to hunt saw a blind man walk to the edge of a cliff. Without waiting for them to say anything to stop him, the blind man simply fell off.

This was just a small story that could be seen anywhere in the Age of Pirates. This era was just so chaotic. The residents sympathized with the old blind man for a few days but soon forgot about him.

After all, everyone had to eat!

Would sympathizing with others magically put food on the table?

But the residents of the small island couldn't possibly imagine how much of a storm this seemingly insignificant tale of murder and treasure would soon stir up!
