My name is Kris Sanders.
I look seventeen, but I am a hundred and seventy. I still go to school and the name of that school is Misterio. It's somewhat different from normal human schools. The school is meant for only Alukah's and which it roughly translates into leach or vampire.
Most of us are born Alukah's but you may also be bitten to become one. The system we have is confusing for some. Even I don't get it.
I almost forgot to tell you about how long I've been in this school for about a few years. I'm considered a second year now. I'm also being told that if I don't find my mate in the next three years they will do the lottery on me and someone else.
Most of the students here have found their mate except for some of the first years and second years. It is rare to have third years without a mate and we have some of those. There is this one bad Alukah he's the only Alukah whose scent I have taken a liking too. His scent is almost similar to chocolate with a small hint of cotton candy to it.
The name of this certain Alukah is Shane Moran and he doesn't follow any rules. He is the perfect image of a bad boy and a sexy one at that. His eyes sometimes seem to follow me around and there is sometimes a certain look I find in his eyes. The look is almost somewhat seductive. But, I've never fully seemed to understand it.
He's well fit and his smile (when he does smile) makes all the girls and some of the boys excited. *Kris! You need to stop thinking like that!* I tell myself. *He's never gonna notice you like that let alone choose you as his mate!* I whined softly to myself thinking *I'm such a cool he won't ever choose me...*
Shane also has messy black hair, I find it super attractive and his slim pale face reflects the light and makes him shine. Also, those eyes of his are almost the color of dried blood. His attire consists of ripped jeans, a white hoodie, and a black t-shirt underneath the hoodie. I have to say his style is much better than mine. The only thing I choose to wear to this school is the uniform they inform us to wear.
The uniform is a red and black plaid button-up dress shirt and black chinos with black dress shoes. It's not that exciting to wear. Unlike Shane's outfit. In which I was as daring as him sometimes. But, I'm not that brave to go against the school system like that. He's the badass that I wish I could be.
Sighing I get off my bed, shaking the thought of him from my mind. "No Alukah would pick me especially not him..." I say as I bite my bottom lip and walk to the bathroom that is just a few doors down from my room. I opened the bathroom door and walked in. I looked at the mirror studying my features. Then went to wash my face and flossed my fangs. After I was done I shut off the lights to the bathroom and went down to the living room to grab my bags and put on my shoes.
Finally, I walked to the front door, through the gates, and began walking a few blocks down the street to arrive at school. It took me about fifteen minutes to get there. I arrive at eight twenty. And school starts at eight-thirty. I have a history assignment to finish so I go to the library to finish it. The assignment is about the first world war between humans and Alukah's. It comes to show they can be more dangerous than us. They assassinated more of us than we did them.
I got to look for a book containing what information I need. The book I grab from the war section is called "War of the Alukah's and Mortal beings"

After ten minutes I leave the library and head to my locker which is on the first floor while the library is on the third. As I got everything I needed from my locker which was my textbooks and binders, I shoved them into my messenger bag.
The next thing that I hear is a loud screech. I turn my attention to the noise. It was Shane's car pulling up to drop him off. He stepped out of the car then turned and ended up staring right at me, from the other side of the car. I unexpectedly felt a surge of unknown heat go to my face. I reluctantly looked away, this always seems to happen when I see him.
It's a habit I can't seem to get away from. There's just something about him that makes me feel that way towards him. I had taken the side entrance to avoid Shane. One thing I hadn't noticed while looking at him that there was a big pile of papers. Notes from others who didn't like me. Bully notes to be exact.
They were saying things like, "Kill Yourself", "No one wants you here", and "Your pathetic". But at the bottom of all those, there's a small white envelope. Probably from Abigail, I open it and unfold the piece of paper to read it.
'Hey Kris I know this is probably at the bottom of some papers, but don't listen to those people. They don't know you so nothing they say is true. When schools over I want to go on a picnic with you see you later

I smiled knowing that I at least have one friend here. Seems she is one of the few that care. I then closed my locker and the bell rang a few seconds after. Signaling for the students to head to class. As I was making my way through the crowded hallway I ran into someone. It felt like hitting a brick wall and it somehow hurt, making me drop all my books.
A porcelain-like figure bent down to help me. I gazed up at who it was, at who was helping me pick up my books. It was Shane! His piercing gaze trapped me in place for a moment, sending a massive heatwave throughout my body. When the realization hit me I looked back down at my stuff. But, I could still feel his eyes on me. After he was done helping me get my stuff up off the floor he said, "Just watch where you're going next time."
He got up and turned to stride in the other direction.
I started rushing to my first class before the tardy bell rang not wanting to be marked as late. I entered the classroom thirty seconds before the bell rang. Mr. Stone had looked at me and said: "Kris, please take a seat."
