Chapter 3 - Chapter Two

Obsidian walls glistened with crystals that shone a plethora of saturated colors. Metallic gold, dazzling lilac, vivid violet, all constituting as barely a fraction of the mosaic of color to be seen. The air practically buzzed with happiness, the very walls themselves seeming to hum a tune that echoed the jocund atmosphere vibrating from the inhabitants of the lustrous place.

She sighed, settling back in her seat while a content little smile broke out across her perfect face. For too long had she been waiting ever patiently for this all too surreal moment to come.

She was nearly skipping as she leaped up and away from her seat, catching the thud of nearby footsteps. Here, he was finally here. She bounded across the room, lightning fast, until she'd nearly plowed straight into him. The boy hastily retreated, to which she almost, but not quite, had to frown. She refused to allow his scalding hatred of her to melt away her glorious joy. Her Things eagerly spectated from the bright, light filled spots of colored reflected off the walls, their sporadic groups scattered around the space tinkling with barely concealed laughter.

She quickly took up the boy's hand before he could react, making absolutely certain that it was her naked right hand to do so. She led him so carelessly in her attempt at an expedient arrival to their destination that he growled in pain as his shoulder roughly knocked into a rather sharp gem of light. Perfect, she mused.

And from there, that spot that was now very generously coated in his blood, she marched them to the one area in all of her domain where her Things were strictly not allowed. Even now, as she watched silently in the brightness of the place, a group of them skittered into the outer edges of the entrance to her most sacred room. Instantaneously they froze, before any one of them could even make a sound, freezing them into the most detailed and magnificent of ice sculptures. Her smile brightened as the delicate statues of ice cracked into a thousand miniscule pieces, a bubble of laughter peeling from her cherry red lips.

The boy beside her stiffened, yanking his uncomfortably warm hand from her tight grip and proceeding to stalk toward the strategically and precisely placed mound in the exact center of the room.

She followed, from her left hand appearing a wicked dagger. The beautiful lights from all around them twinkled, sending blinding bursts of color refracting off the surface of the carefully sharpened blade. The boy, knowing exactly what to do, delicately snatched the weapon from her hand so as not to cut her or inadvertently brush his skin against hers.

He quickly brought the glowing piece of metal to the palm of his hand, scoring an angry red line across the length of it. Ruby red liquid laced the luminescent weapon, which he promptly shoved into his pocket. She slowly reached her hand down, drawing back the white lace sheet from the body that had been a shapeless lump from a distance. Her greedy eyes took in the sight of the girl before her. Beautiful, with long, silky blonde hair and pink, plush lips. Her ivory cheeks were flushed with the vibrancy of life, though living she certainly was not.

The girl watched, enamored, as the boy let the crimson liquid steadily flowing from his cut drip down and straight onto those pretty pink lips. She gasped with pure delight and anticipation as those lips began to twitch, springing open at the taste of the sustenance the body so desperately required. Both the boy and the girl were joined together, for the first time, by sheer relief, even with the gaping rift between them.

Long, golden lashes fluttered as eyes the color of bleached sapphires opened wide to the bright, bright room of glorious gems.

"Drip. Drop." A voice rasped in the distance, from its place all alone in the dark.

"Drip. Drop."
