Chapter 2 - Chapter 1- An Incident

Nessa POV:

Three things in my life truly mattered. They were: My bed, my music and above all, my beloved 'caife Gaelach', which is Irish Coffee outside Ireland.

And that was the last time I enjoyed it.(actually not, which is something I realized editing this but it sounds cool so I'ma leave it there -.-)

"Nessa!"

We were at Vicars café, I was sipping on my coffee, bare legs crossed under the table and lost in thought. On the opposite side of the table, Erina Nakayama sat with her legs criss-crossed on her chair, calling my name.

I startled, spilling a bit of coffee on the table. As I stared at my spilled Ambrosia in horror, I felt her smirk. "That's what you get," she said, "for ditching me." I rolled my eyes. Earlier that day, we'd run into some muggers in an alleyway. I hadn't had any cash and I couldn't deal with them, so using Erina as a shield, I'd run away.

I'd done it as a prank, obviously. And she was and is aware of that. The first time I'd met her was in a martial arts club that I'd left shortly afterward, and she continued in to this day. Still, I'd hidden with 911 dialed and ready on my phone. Not that I'd tell her that anytime soon. Luckily for the muggers, Erina only had to karate kick one of them before the others took the cue and ran. The scene reminded me of an anime comedy. Erina didn't follow them, she just texted me to meet at Vicars (Okay, maybe she actually thought I'd ditched her). I could almost see the steam coming from her ears, but I couldn't refuse when she paid. Not Coffee.

She'd already ordered my caife Gaelach by the time I got there, though I'd probably not drink it if it wasn't against the law for cafés to poison their drink on a customer's request, with the looks she was shooting me. The dead silence between us that honestly terrified me. This adorable 16 year old could be scary when she wanted to.

Now that my coffee was spilled, she was normal again. The way her character changed in a split second sometimes was worrisome. "I didn't ditch you, Erin" I groaned"I was right there in case you needed baby-sitting."

Erina got up and leaned across the table. Another sudden change in character.

"When have I ever needed babysitting?!"

I could see dimples on her face from anger. She hated it when her fighting skills were criticized..even by me. I knew what to do though, I'd learned something the past 10 years I'd known her. I got up, right in her face.

"Why are you even mad at me then?" When she's pissed, just give a simple response she can't counter.

She stared at me blankly for a second. Then mumbled something like "smartass" and sat back down, recovering her original position. It was my turn to smirk as I put my hands behind my head and said "It's impolite to say that, Ms.Nakayama." in my most 'university professor' voice.

The dimming light of the setting sun from the window next to us reflected the rage in her caramel brown eyes. I crossed my legs on top of the table as I sipped the last of my coffee, not forgetting to return her glare. We probably looked like serial killers about to have a showdown. It was nighttime, the café would probably close soon. It was just us, the workers and a couple in the corner. It was extremely hushed inside the building. Then something happened.

The guy snorted.

We continued glaring, but the rage was absent. We were just trying not to burst out laughing.

Until the waitress going to serve them freaked out and dropped the tray.

Erin and I looked right at each other and grinned. Then we started laughing so hard I thought both of us might be convulsing. Tears were flowing from her eyes and I was going to rip my intestines out. I was mildly aware of everyone else staring at us but there was no way they weren't going berserk too. Okay, probably not. Everyone isn't a teenage girl who laughs at everything.

I managed to control myself just as my phone started ringing. Erina was still laughing hysterically so I just signaled her that I'd be right back and pointed at my phone, as she gave me a thumbs up. It was probably my dad since it was pretty late into the night, I was gonna be in some trouble. I clenched my teeth in nervousness as I looked at my screen to pick the call up.

It wasn't my Dad. The text on the screen read, clear as day,' St Vincent's University Hospital'.

It was probably the wrong number. I picked it up "Sorry, this is the wrong num-"

"Is this Ms.Nessa Hayes?" I froze. I didn't remember any recent checkups with incomplete reports, and I lived alone with my dad. Besides, we only went to this hospital once, and that's when I saved the number.

"Yes, Did something happen?"

"I'm sorry ma'am, please come to the hospital immediately, Mr.Liam Hayes is seriously injured."

(A/N- 875 words...not much change here either :/ )
