Wen Qinxi was anxious as the group of people gazed at him with teary puppy dog eyes as though staring at their savior. What did they expect him to do? He himself wasn't even hopeful that Qie Ranzhe would ever wake up
"Mr Wen you don't understand. You are our only hope given your experience. Please hear us out," said director Cheng almost on his knees.
It seemed they had a plan but Wen Qinxi was not so optimistic. "Okay what would you like me to do because l am really not qualified to deal with this?" he replied with beads of sweat on his forehead, whatever was coming next had to be peculiar.
"Here is the thing, we consulted with a world renounced psychologist, Dr Krystal in Russia and the proposed treatment would be sending some one into the game and guide Qie Ranzhe's split consciousness to pass the game in each world. This way we can bring back his consciousness intact. That's the only way he can finally wake up," explained the director with a hint of self-doubt that even Wen Qinxi noticed.
This was just too hilarious that he wanted to laugh out loud and he actually did. "Why the fuck would you pick me? l am the last person you can ask to do this. Why would you think he would accept my guidance?" he questioned them while shaking his head in disbelief, "Doesn't he have family or girlfriend you can send in?" no longer minding his language.
"Well thats the thing we have already tried sending in a couple of people and some close to him but they all got thrown out off the game," replied the stout bald director while casually glancing at Li Menxie.
Under the director's gaze, Li Menxie clenched her jaw holding down her disappointment. She hoped saving the CEO would give her some brownie points but was ruthlessly thrown out of the game in less than a minute.
"You still haven't answered my question," replied Wen Qinxi with a deadpan expression. If they tried Li Menxie who spent the entire day with Qie Ranzhe, what about him, a guy he never interacted with a single day in his life except for a twinkies wrapper incident and being caught under Qie Ranzhe's assistant's desk?
"Given your relationship with CEO Qie Ranzhe and your knowledge about the game as its designer, we thought maybe you can give it a try," said director Cheng hoping to sway Wen Qinxi but all he got from him was a frown.
"What relationship?" he curiously asked because everyone seemed to think they were bossom buddies.
"Oh for fuck sake Wen Qinxi just go try the game and see if it works! Our fuckin jobs are on the line here!" yelled an enraged Li Menxie with her chest heaving like an angry bull.
A wide-eyed Wen Qinxi was flabbergasted, taken aback by her heartfelt speech but quickly recovered. He wasn't going to let her walk all over him again as the saying goes 'once bitten, twice shy'. It was all her fault in the first place.
"Who the fuck are you to say that? This shit is your mess, if you didn't call me l wouldn't have been kicked off the team and none of this would have happened. Fuck!" he said extremely pissed off. He regretted ever answering the call that unfolded such a chain of events.
As you can tell already, Wen Qinxi has a short fuse and doesn't watch his words when angry thus the language he used on Li Menxie. "Did l fuckin owe you in my previous life?" he carried on pointing at her. Director Cheng had to calm him down as Li Menxie exited the boardroom in tears.
Only when she left did Wen Qinxi agree to give it a go and so they handed him a confidential file on Qi Ranzhe's personal life to go through before logging into the game. Contrary to his belief, Qie Ranzhe's life was kind of sad maybe even sadder than his.
The guy might have been a male god but he didn't have a life surrounded by sexy models like Wen Qinxi expected. The stern CEO was in love with some girl named Zhao Huangzhi but got dumped as soon as he proposed.
His mother suffered from chronic depression ever since she got divorced by the love of her life and barely managed to raise her son with a sane mind.
His father didn't care much for him so Qie Ranzhe started his own company so as to avoid fighting for power with his younger siblings. He already had an ill mother that needed his attention, dog blood drama would just put strain on him so he chose to separate himself from all the trouble. These were just a few honorable mentions in Qie Ranzhe's biography.
This didn't help ease Wen Qinxi's guilt, in fact it was intensified. He felt so bad for not following up with manager Zhang maybe they wouldn't have ended up in such a situation. Wen Qinxi signed a non disclosure agreement before leaving the boardroom for the game room.
He had to sit patiently while some medical professionals performed a full cross examination of his body before giving him the thumbs up. Xia Bai and Hei Bao welcomed him back as they briefed him on what they had discovered so far.
Qie Ranzhe's consciousness in each world was fully immersed in what ever character he was. He had no recollection of his life in the real world but had showed some sense of familiarity when Li Menxie got inside the game.
The current storylines he was in were an endless loop of tragic endings. All he had to was help Qie Ranzhe change the storyline to a positive outcome in each world. This could count as passing an instance defeating the big boss. Passing all the worlds would allow his consciousness to return to his body intact.
"Okay cool anything else l should know?" asked Wen Qinxi flipping through the game files.
"Well, will be communicating with you in the game all you have to do is activate your communication code. You want to pick one?" asked Hei Bao getting ready to input it into the system.
Wen Qinxi kept on flipping through the file while saying, "Mm, Qieranzheisajerk thats the code," with a stern expression.
"Sorry say that again?" asked Hei Bao thinking he had heard wrong.
Wen Qinxi raised his head and repeated slowly," Qie Ranzhe is a jerk, no space small caps."
Hei Bao and Xia Bai burst out laughing. "Geez Bruh, you are fuckin hardcore!" said Xia Bai suddenly deciding to record all their conversations in the game thinking how Qie Ranzhe would love to replay these records when he wakes up.
