Ava's point of view
This cannot be happening right now.As Rellik kept on coming in my direction some ladies in the salon kept on giving him flirty or hungry eyes whilst others just stared.Mckenzie on the other hand was already by my side on defence mode,glaring at Rellik whilst I was frozen in my seat.
"Afternoon love,you look a little pale."
Still frozen in shock Mckenzie moved infront of me ,blocking me from Rellik's view.
"Ahh my old friend I see old age hasn't done you any justice."
Old age.What the hell is Rellik talking about.Mckenzie looks amazing for someone in her early twenties.
"Leave now before I call your cousin over."
"Oh my he really is still alive,I mean you know after what happened."
From where I was I could see Mckenzie's body tensing up at Rellik's statement.What ever he meant must have struck a nerve.Before she could reply Rellik was instantly infront of her,bending down to her level as he whispered into her ear.Ever since I met this girl I have never even once seen her look so defeated,she has allows just dripped confidence but to see her like this right now shows that they both know each other and for a long time that is.
Shaking a bit I watched her as she slowly moved aside,giving Rellik more space to come to me.Holding out his hand he smile at me daring me with his eyes to defy him but with Mckenzie's current state I didn't dare think of it.Placing his hand in mine he quickly grinned at me before getting out his credit card and handing it over to the cashier.
Without uttering another word she quickly plugged it in and waited whilst he entered his password.Once he was done he gently pulled me outside inter-locking his fingers with mine whilst walking me down the street with Mckenzie slowly trailing behind us.Oh man where was Darien when I needed him.The walk with him was agonizingly awkward and very tense.Once we rounded the corner a quiet but busy café appeared.
"This is your stop Kenzie,you can wait right here I just want to have a bit of a chat with my girlfriend over here."
Shocked she looked up at me as if wanting to confirm this but I was just as shocked as she was which was probably why I saw her relaxing her shoulders a bit.Pulling me in we walked in looking for a table until he spotted one and dragged me towards it,opening my chair and tucking me in as soon as I was sitting.Not even giving me a chance to relax a bit he starting with his questions.
"So how is the wolf life treating you love."
Confused and scared at the same time I looked up at him wanting him to elaborate further.
"Oh come on love don't play dumb with me,I know you have been keeping my cousin's bed warm at night."
Cousin.Darien and Rellik couldn't possibly be related could they.
"Which cousin exactly,you might want to elaborate further cause you see I've been keeping a lot of bed's warm lately."
Feeling bold at my come back I watched silently as Rellik threw his head back and laughed.Glad I could catch him off guard but his smile was soon wiped out and replaced with seriousness.
"Charming love now lets get back to business,tell me how is me dear cousin Darien doing."
Shaking a bit I stared him dead in the eye before replying.
"You really want me to believe that your both related,do you even know what he is."
"Ofcourse he's a hybrid,half vampire and dog.Disgrace of the family."
"How can you call him a disgrace,he's your cousin."
Slamming his fist on the table with a cold look in his eyes I jumped back a bit earning a few curious looks from people on nearby tables. Guess the anger part really does run in the family.
"Our kind don't mix themselves with dogs let alone mate with them but I guess every family has a member with no dignity at all."
Confused and slightly scared I scooted closer getting a raised brow from Rellik.Drawing in my breath I asked my next question.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Aahh interested in learning about your disgrace of a mate's existence."
Scowling at him I nodded my head wanting him to carry on.Sighing he placed his hand on his chin with a far away look on his face.
"Our family line goes all the way back to the very first vampires,The royal blooded.It has been a tradition for thousand of years that any member of our family marries their own kind or human.No other species were excepted and that was that but ofcourse when Darien's father was King ruling on our rightful piece of land thousands of years ago he found his hideous dog mate in a ball organised by the witches of the south that wanted peace between all species."
"No thanks to the mate bond he fell for her deeply and when it was discovered the council banned him from ever seeing her again but behind the councils back the idiotic fool met up with her daily.Once a suitable maiden was found for him they were introduced and were to marry in a couple of months."
Without being able to hold it back in I burst out laughing leaving Rellik even more confused.Wiping away a tear I sat up facing him again.
"Who still says maiden nowadays."
Ignoring my question he continued his story with a far away look in his eyes.
"Instead of manning up like he should have he chose to pour his seeds out in his dog mate and that's how the black sheeps of the family were created,destroying our family name."
"Wait a minute you said sheeps instead of sheep why."
"That's me hinting at something love."
"Hinting at what."
Leaning even closer I felt like shrinking at how uncomfortable he was making me feel,invading my personal space like it was nothing.
"Who's sports car were you driving today."
"Oh you mean that I know it belonged to his twin brother he told me."
"And did he tell you who killed him and why?"
"Are you trying to say that.."
Before I could finish my sentence he abruptly got up biding me farewell and speeding out the exit door leaving me shocked and confused at what happened.What the hell is going on with this family.
